If you think Crabs and Nate played perfect, then you don't know quite as much about Football as I thought you did. Also, if you can't see that Alex was clearly the weakest link on our team today, you need some help.

In case you didn't know a 58% completion percentage, 2 ints, 1 Fumble, and a QB rate of 52.5 sucks for a QB!

It's asinine to think it's all Smith's fault. He actually started the game pretty decent 15-17. Once we trailed, he started to press. It was just a failure on both sides of the ball, and that falls on the shoulders of the coaching staff.

You forgot Joe Staley, who was absolutely terrible at LT today...

Next year, the Niners need to put him on the right side and move Davis over to LT...or better yet, draft another OT...

That is ignorant. He didn't have a great game, but how about the o line? We can't even pick up a 4th and inches? He was under duress the entire second half. No running game at all.

2 int's that led to 14 points and 2 easy TD misses that took away 14; you do the math...

It's never that simple. Crabtree had one pass go through his hands... the other is on both of them.

Maybe, if we had a running game going and time to throw we wouldn't have to abandon the running game in the second half. Maybe Smith wouldn't have to press.

He isn't the type of guy who can throw if 50+ times and win it for you. We need a balanced attack. He sucked, but so did MANY other parts of the offense. The entire team looked out of sink in that loud a55 stadium (that included the coaches)

I know you were trying to be a smart ass and turn this back on me with your stupid comment; so I figured I'd do the same to you.

We both agree that the team played a bad game. Where we differ is that I have no allegiance to Smith and can see him for how he played today which is like crap.

From the onset of the game it was clear that they were determined to stop the run cause they didn't think that Smith could beat them through the air. They were right to the tune of 2 picks 1 fumble, 0TDs, a poor completion %, and a QB rate in the low 50s...

I was at this game and here's what I saw, it was probably a lot different than what it looked like from the broadcast.

There were no deep clearing routes: The routes combo's of the 49ers plays seemed to be designed for short passes. When receivers went deep they were more for opening the short game up, not deep clearing routes where the deep middle and curl routes are opened. Also, Staley was getting beat by a speed rush all day which caused a lot of pressures and hits that probably wasn't seen in the broadcast. Smith was hit on all but maybe two of his passes. There were a lot of flood routes but not many verticals.

The crowd was deafening. I could barely hear my wife talking to me who was sitting next to me at the game. The 12th man was there in full force and because the 9ers never got their run game going they could not silence the crowd. This led to a lot of communication issues. Also, Rachal went down in the game which probably didn't help Anthony Davis, losing the guy he's been practicing next to for the last 6 weeks.

There wasn't a sense of urgency from the play calling until the 9ers went no huddle. When Alex was calling his own plays the tempo of the players and their route running picked up dramatically. That was when they hit that deep in to Ginn for 15 yards or so(the only time they cleared out a deep pass. I'm starting to think that maybe Alex is smarter than Jimmy Raye - and the players might be too.

It was still fun to be at the game but as my wife put it: "they just looked slow and lathargic all game".

As from my post above - I was at the game, and the Seahawks were not running a lot of 8 man boxes. They were keeping their safeties deep most of the game. It's that we couldn't run against 7 man fronts....

Thank you for your feedback. I did notice the same thing...that Ginn and others were used as decoys to throw everything...and I mean everything underneath. It took Seattle two seconds to figure out our whole offensive scheme which included about 10 total plays, 9 of them designed to be less then 10 yards. Raye/Singletary's philosophy is garbage. I liked that they had balls but when it's 4th and inches, you do a QB sneak, not a pass to the worst hands on the team (ball hot him twice in the hands - too high though). Seattle's OC, all of a week old had no problems game planning for our weaknesses. With zero pass rush on the outside, they were able to exploit a VERY slow Lewis and double-move on Clements and Brown and that was the game. Aside from Walker, we created ZERO mismatches with all the talent we have! It's ALL on the coaches this year b/c they have the players THEY wanted. We could end up 0-5, no doubt, to start the season as we have been TERRIBLE on the road and it continued today.

great post, its hard for the casual fan watching on tv at home to see what routes the wideouts are running
