complete underachieved on O with running and passing. After Smith took over I would say it was pretty much as expected

Niners could have won at least 3-4 more games, if they had a HC with a clue and actual HCing experience. This team lacks a identity esp on Offensive side of the ball, and road games they look lost and unprepared for the entire first half time and time again.
I expect 2010 to be another disappointment with Singletary at the helm.
Jed York needs to bring in a HC whos been in game time situations and doesn't use all the teams TOs with 6+ minutes in the first quarter of a game

damn man go be negative somewhere else. he's a rookie head coach and he made mistakes, yes, but really -- writing off the 2010 season already?

the Niners teams of the 80's and early 90's could and usually did overcome adversity..fumbles, interceptions, penalties, horrible referee calls etc. They BELIEVED they could and so very often played that way. BUT this team is not yet anywhere near that good. Call it bad luck or whatever, I don't know but it seems like almost every other tipped ball would be interecepted or like DBly this last game he tips ball away hard yet still its caught for a big gain; how many times did Niner interceptons or especially fumbles late in the game cost them chances to go ahead or win? This team from top to bottom, offense AND defense, special teams, from 4th string wr to backup tackles must learn how to close and win. Like many of the Niner losses this year most games win or lose are going to come down to a handful of plays. If next years team can win some of those close games like they lost this year? Then IMO they'll be ready to go to playoffs and beyond.
PS. seems to me that all good teams make their own good "luck"
so GOOD LUCK 2010 NINERS!.

Our Special Teams suck, plain and simple. We lost a lot of games due to really poor field position. You cant drive 80 to 90 yards on every possesion. WE NEED A KICK RETURNER!
Off is decent, we need an interior lineman. I wish Larry would have stayed another year. Another Oline coach would be nice. The fact that we could not stop the eagles same blitz off the left side is proof of that. Plus, backup running back with speed. Coffee is not the answer. We should have signed Sheets.
Def. is good, we need a safety to replace Lewis. Gohldson can play free or strong! Plus, it is time for Harralson to go. Brooks is the answer off the edge and will get much more time next year on all downs, and we need to invest in a replacement for Spike, he is getting up there.

Harolson is a back up and that is about it. Watching McNabb outrun him for a TD was a flashback from earlier in the season.

again 8-8 is what i predicted before the season even started because this is pretty much the same team as last year. McClueless needs to start gettin some impact players in free agency and the draft, the niners got the cap room to do it.

No not every game. He has some positives as a HC. Best being 4-1 vs NFC West likely to finish 5-1 in division play and 8-8 on the season. He has a great ablity to get players excited and motivated (at times) and really cares about winning and returning this team to greatness. I just don't know if that's enough to overcome his weaknesses and lack of experience.
I am just tired of rookie HCs and losing seasons year after year. Esp when I grew up watching the Niners win 10+ games every season and always being in the hunt for a SB ring late in January.

McClueless needs to fix the damn OLine problem. This team will always have an offense that sucks until that OLine is fixed.

Our talent level is above average, we should have won more of the close games, we easily could have won 10 or 11 games this year, we flat out under achieved and I blame this staff, I do how ever feel Sing has earned another year... if he is willing to make a few changes to his coaching staff.
Singletary is a rookie head coach with little experience coaching at any level, he needs guidance, and should have his powers limited, he should not be given too much power we made this mistake with Nolan. Would you want a rookie QB to call all his own plays? Why would you want a rookie Head Coach making all his own decisions?
