All I know is watching Texas Tech play #1 Texas last year and Texas had at least a half a dozen NFL guys on there defense alone and it was clear Michael Crabtree was the best player on the field that night.
... and Crabtree had a hurt foot and couldn't run any deep routes that night
Yup

Wow.....just a week ago the majority of you couldnt stop yourselves from attacking Crabtree. What a difference a week makes. Raye makes a comment.....you people misinterpret it, and now you're all defending Crabtree like you're a member of his posse.
Get a life...........

Come on, now. Raye either is really senile, doesn't know what the hell he's talking about, or he's f**king with everyone. For the 49ers sake, I really hope it's option #3. I watch the BIG 12 religiously and Crabtree ran a lot more patterns than a hitch route and a go route. I've seen him run a slant pattern more than 3 times in one game. Now I'm not saying that Crabtree is a great route runner, he might have to refine his skills and learn from the best (Sully and Bruce), but to say he only ran 2 routes in College is just not being truthful.
i think you guys got jimmy ray all confused in what he's trying to say... on this 49ers team he will be only running two routes! hahahaha!

I understood the entire route tree as a wide receiver in high school, which is pretty standard

Well Raye only calls two plays, so I guess it's a perfect match.

Raye probably only saw 2 routes because he was sleeping the rest of the time!!
That is the stupidist comment I have heard a coach make.C'mon man wake up!!

It was actually a compliment because in Rayes offense, there's only one route.

Does blocking count as a route?

I've seen Crabtree run a screen, a hitch, a go, and a slant.
1+1+1+1 = 4.
4>2.
