Shaun was brought in to manage the game, and I think he continues to do it as per expectation. He is the best QB we have in our "current" roster. Alex had his chances...again...and again, and turns out he is NOT upto it. Just 'cause we lost 45-10, doesn't mean Alex is automatically better.
As for Nate, pre-season is diff than regular season. Just ask Coffee!
We had a meltdown on defense. The reason we won the games so far, was mostly 'cause of our defense. We go as far as our defense takes us. That's just our philosophy for this year.
Hill made one mistake...well, it was a tip or something, so he is not the "main" reason we lost. Our OLINE and defense needs to step up big time, otherwise, no matter who the QB, is bound to get hurt.
Oh, we don't have any WRs either!
We have to take a step back, analyze what went wrong and make the tweak. Maybe, we after all are just an avg team? No Gore? OLINE is our weakest link? all the hype got to us? the Crabtree distraction? overconfidence? who knows.
Silver lining: we have two weeks to get better. Gore and Crabtree can hopefully contribute.
Alex did not have his chances again and again. Love this revisionist history by Smith haters. Just stop it.
Not a Smith hater...rather a 49ers fan! Smith also had his chance in the off-season and he was passed over for Hill. The coaches felt Hill was better, Singletary felt Hill was better.
Granted we don't have Peyton Manning in Hill, but he's the best we've got in the current roster.
Smith was going to have to clearly outplay Hill in the pre-season to win the job. He didn't do that. But he made it close which is pretty good considering he hadn't played in two years.
