If Haralson and Smith stay healthy, then I think the pass rush will be around middle of the pack to best of the bottom third of the league. The Niners will blitz a lot!

Yea, who was the guy that said decade after decade of no pass rush??!?! The Niners had some very good and excellent pass rushers in the 80's and 90's. Fred Dean and Charles Haley were great! Tim Harris, Chris Doleman, and Bryant Young were very good or good.

STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUBBY!!! Yeah he sucked when he played for Washington but he and BY were MONSTERS in the middle.

Just cause none of our guys hold career or single season Sack records doen't meant that they weren't causing havoc in the Opposing backfields. Stubby and BY accounted for roughly 20-30 sacks a season when they were on the Line together. That's not chump numbers either.

I don't expect ANY Defensive personnel on this team to come close to that. I just want the ball more often than the Opposing Offenses'. If our Defense can put the ball back into the hands of our Offense to a positive time of possession in our favor we'll win ball games. If not you could have 150 team sacks on the season and STILL have -.500 record.

But I guess that's lost on some of you. I like getting to the QB as much as the next guy, but Wins count more than Sacks do.

10 sacks so we can pad our stats.

We were 16th in sacks last year. If we had 2 more, we would have been 13th. Just 5 more and we would have been 10th. Without that big nickel that we employed we could have been in that territory.

The point is that this pass rush isn't as terrible as people make it out to be.
