We should have kept Bryant Johnson.

Except . . .

Lions wide receiver Bryant Johnson is sidelined for the start of training camp because of injuries suffered in a golf-cart accident in early July.

"No orthopedic issues at all with it," coach Jim Schwartz said Saturday after the Lions' first practice. "It was superficial wounds, a lot of road-rash kind of things, and he's not ready to practice. He still has some open wounds and things like that.
"We're going to take our time. It may be a little while with him, but we'll get him back as quick as we can. He's healing fine, but it is an issue."

Bryant Johnson is still a better receiver than Jones. We wasted all that money on Jones, when Johnson got 3/$9M

Jones getting hurt is actually a blessing in disguise because it will give Jason Hill and Ziegler a chance to make the roster.

Hope so, but we're only keeping 5 receivers.

WR 1: Josh Morgan (LOCK)
WR 2: Issac Bruce (LOCK)

Michael Crabtree
Jason Hill
Dominique Ziegler
Arnaz Battle
Brandon Jones

Again, Jones was a waste of money. We should have spent that money on a pass rusher.

I posted this in another thread already but..........

We need 5 WR's on the active roster who can play on opening day:
Morgan
Bruce
Battle
Hill
Z

Crabtree wont be ready to step on the field until week 4 to possibly after the bye. We have a problem because technically we are carrying 7 but only 5 will be able to play. I have a feeling once Jones and Crabs are ready somebody gets cut, but we cant cut anybody now due to the depth issue we are facing.

Which pass rusher? How many passes did Zigler, Hill, and Crabtree catch last year combined? You were going to put all of your hopes on a second year guy and another that is about to retire?

It was hardly a waste

Based on what?

It's not like our offense is the complicated Mike Martz system anymore.

It's pretty straight forward.
