We are pretty deep at WR so I could see Battle as a slight possiblity. Sims I could also easily see. I think that MS really seems to like Roman's veteran experience as an insurance policy against Goldson's staying healthy so I don't think he is a likely candidate.

Oh, and as far as picking up battle of the streets if we need him is concerned, he will not be available, not gonna happen.
I believe we can pick up or trade for someone if we cut roman and we should. Simms I see definately being cut but then resigned.

I would pay to get rid of Sims
C'mon he isn't as bad as you think he is. He was doing good in that Miami game up until that last play were Joey Porter sacked Hill.
i know you know this but didn't that pretty much cost us the game.
and wasn't davis in there most of the game to help him block? i could be wrong, but that is what i thought
Exactly!!! The reason thhat Sims "looked" Ok against Miami was due to Davis personally blocking Porter all game & the ONLY time Porter got a sack, was ironically when Davis was NOT in the game. Sims is horrible.
I would release Battle (feel bad for him, longtime Niner) & Sims. Romain is a valuable back-up.

He was the reason Davis stayed in to block so damn much. IMHO

I love what Battle has meant to this team , but we do have some young talent at WR. I agree that Singletary has made it very clear that there is a roster spot for Roman. I hope that Alex Boone is good enough to make Sims just a bad memory.

I agree i think Battle would be gone in a second........I live here in Indy, I bet the Colts would die to have Battle as a 3rd or fourth rec., i.e Stokley back in the day, many teams could use him for this purpose

Don't know if he'd even clear waivers.

Risky move.

Battle has been a very team oriented player, doing all the things that don't show up on the stat sheet, but perhaps he will lose out to the young guys this year. His blocking could help the run game, but his bad knees may be too much of a liablility for a young team on the rise. It would be a shame to cut one of the young guys!

Sims most likely isn't going to make the team anyway. Keep Battle and Roman for experience and depth unless a young player clearly beats them out. The salaries are moderate.

I think Battle might be gone. He has been great for us but we got a lot of receivers now and he has been paid well for what he has done.

Why Battle for experience and depth. I sort of see the experience part but we got Bruce. As for depth we are a legit 7 deep right now at WR. Battle seems to be in the bottom two or three. I kind of doubt he'll see the field much this year so why not cut him?

Given our situation at S, I don't think they will cut Roman...too good of an insurance policy for the money. I can see Battle and Sims though being cut due to the level of competition especially with the WRs.
Again, I am not trashing Battle. I think the dude is a stud especially on third downs, but the fact remains that he is injury prone, period. Zeigler and Spurlock will make it difficult for us to keep him especially when both can be had cheaper, right?
We shall see...

We have so much cap space, I don't think anyone will get cut/traded for that reason. All of our cuts will be based an talent/hustle/attitude and who is simply better than the competition. That's the way it should be.
