Vikings punter already pulling the victim card after Minnesota drafts a punter in the 5th

Should a punter be given this much attention...

You are paid to kick the ball straight and away. And occasionally act like someone had ran into you to get a penalty. Dude should just STFU! Get a freak'n Klue --Kluwe.

Players should stay away from sharing political views and their opinions on controversial subjects with the public while they are playing. There isn't much to gain by it and a lot to lose, both the Chris Cullivers and the Chris Kluwes of the world need to keep their opinions to themselves.

This. Off all the fake hysteria generated by this whole topic, this is what annoys me the most.

Kluwe was damn near dead last among all punters in the league last year, and that couldn't be the reason he was cut. Nope, it's because he spoke out about about gay rights.

....whatever you need to do to sleep better at night guy.

Sadly, unless you're opinion is that you agree, anything you say will generate a lot of controversy.

no he sucks which is why he doesn't have a job
I think Kluwe got cut largely because of his numbers/salary. He tried to defend this point on Reddit by saying that the "Vikings had a lot of cap room". So what? Extra cap room can be rolled over into the next year, and it can also be used to front-load extensions for players (like when we paid Willis $17m this season or whatever). If you don't think a player is worth his money, then you get rid of him, regardless of how much cap room you may have.

Now, here's the thing: Kluwe may have been cut partially because of his views. However, if he was, it's not because he spoke out in favor of gay marriage. It's because he was incredibly brash, unprofessional and immature in his views. For instance, check this out:

How many employers would be OK with a publicly-visible that represents their organization posting stuff like that?
Vikings already pulling the ass card after being the asses for 60 years?

So much for the league being hostile towards gays/gay supporters. The lesson here being that if you are available to fill a need on a team, you'll probably have no problems getting a contract.

Imagine that.
