Bill Simmons @BillSimmons
Such a horrible tragedy in KC. Chiefs game has to be postponed 1 or 2 days. How is this even a question? Do the right thing, NFL.

Wow, that really surprises me. I wonder if the Panthers attempted to refuse, out of respect for what happened?
Nothing stops the NFL. They played games 2 days after JFK was assasinated. .

This is a little different, don't you think? This player had a direct relationship with other players. JFK was somebody they didn't know.

Makes football seem utterly irrelevant. If the league makes the team play this Sunday I'll honestly be shocked.
I'd be surprised if they don't play.
Agreed. The game will go on. People die. It's sucks, and it's hard, but that's life.

The guy was clearly troubled, but he just ruined/affected countless lives. The woman he killed, her mother who witnessed it, the 2 men who witnessed him kill himself and that poor baby who is now left parentless and will go through life knowing why. And those were just the people close to the situation.

9/11 has been the only thing so far right?
I'll probably get flamed for this, but to the Chiefs players this probably hurts more than 9/11 hurt teams outside of NY/NJ.

Exactly. I've got no empathy for Belcher at the moment in contrast to those whom he harmed so needlessly.

He might have been fighting demons in his head that none us could ever comprehend. No one knows. Its easy for everyone to say "I would never kill myself" but Im sure that most everyone who does has said that in their lifetimes. RIP and condolences to all involved in this tragedy.
