Fixed
Fitz has also been to a superbowl and in the playoffs two or three times. His play in the playoff run and the superbowl brought him to national attention, we need a something like that for Willis to gain more national credibility, IMO

This
Fitz will go #1 until the Niners make a run in the playoffs with a defense spearheaded by Willis.

Fitz had that one unbelievable post-season and thats what most scouts/journalists remember. He's good and definitely a top 5 receiver, but it's debatable if he is top 3.

On the other hand Willis is the consensus #1 ILB. (Ray Lewis is good but at this point in his carreer, journalists are still rating him off his rep from his younger days) Until the niners put together a playoff run and get the secondary fixed so teams can't avoid Willis, he's never gonna be rated at the top.
Yes Fitz did have a great year but he put all of his numbers up when his team was losing. Every game they had to throw because of being behind by at least 2 touchdowns. Only 3 100 yard games all season and the last 3 games of the year he had 20 catches and 275 yards total. Thats is 25% of his yearly stats. If we had any kind of offense P Willis and the D would dominate.

Willis is NFC west best player
Willis also has made the ALL PRO team every year

3 out of 4 years. He has made the Pro Bowl each of the 4 years.

wasn't he the second team all pro for the one year your referring to? Still counts IMO.

fair enough

1st team - 3 years, 2nd team - 1 year

Still on board with Willis being the better player but Willis' stats also get helped out by the fact that our D is on the field for 45 min a game... If we had a better team though I could see him getting more ints and sacks.

Willis has had one of the best starts ever at MLB but Fitz had one of the best runs in the playoffs at WR so I think people tend to look at that more.

Not trying to be a homer here, but IMO getting first or second team All pro is still better than probowls acheivement-wise. Like trying to decide between Polamolu and Reed for 1st team... both are at the top of the game and both are going to Canton but only one gets first team and the other gets second.

All Pro is a %100 league vote and probowl is fan/media vote correct?

I will agree with the pick for 1 reason. the only thing that is stopping fitz right now is the QB issues they have over there. As we can see that as great as pat is he can be game planned to slow down enough to get the play off. Fitz on the otherhand He is commanding the hole secondary to cover him.

But saying fitz is #1 is no way a disrespect to Pat. but once we have a constant pass rush it is on a craccin.
could you imagine our offense with Kaepernick, Gore, VD, Crabtree, and Fitz?
