he'd be a solid but uninspired choice. he's a very good coach and would definitely be an upgrade, but i'd like to see us make a run at Holmgren, Gruden, Harbaugh, etc--the big-name, offensive minds.

but I wouldn't be upset about Fisher. I wouldn't be that excited, either, but it would be an improvement, for sure.

I think Fisher is a coach who can provide a solid program with established guidelines. I think he lacks the intricate innovation to operate a dominate team.

yeah, that might be true. I don't know if, on his own, he would be able to really right this organization. But I do think he would be worth several extra wins a season over Singletary. This team would probably be at least 5-5 under Fisher right now and maybe better. Like you say, he's got a solid program and would have the team at least prepared week-in and week-out and wouldn't be making the game-day management mistakes that Singletary makes. the big question would be: who would be on his staff? and what happens in the front office?

which I guess are questions about any potential head coach.
The man has Niner blood in him. I've been hoping for years that we get the chance to bring him in. Maybe this will finally be it.
Preety cool facts in bold.

Playing career

Fisher later went on to star as a USC Trojan under coach John Robinson. During his collegiate career (1977–80), he played alongside such defensive stars as Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith, and Joey Browner. Fisher's USC teammates also included star offensive lineman Bruce Matthews, whom he would coach years later with the Oilers and Titans. Fisher and the Trojans won a national championship during the 1978 season, and in 1980 he was honored with a Pac-10 All-Academic selection.

Fisher entered the NFL as a 7th round draft pick of the Chicago Bears in 1980 and appeared in 49 games as a defensive back and return specialist in five seasons.

He earned a Super Bowl ring after Chicago’s 1985 Super Bowl season, despite spending the year on injured reserve with an ankle injury that prematurely ended his playing career. In 1983, Fisher had suffered a broken leg on a punt return[2] when he was tackled by then-Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Bill Cowher, the future head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers.[3] Coincidentally the two became rivals as head coaches beginning in the AFC Central in 1995; Fisher's Oilers/Titans squads came out with an 11-7 record against Cowher's Steelers.
[edit] Early coaching career

Realizing his playing days were over, and not content to be idle, Fisher wanted to still be involved with professional football. In 1985, the Bears put him on injured reserve, so during this time he became a defensive assistant to Buddy Ryan, the Bears' defensive coordinator. After the 1985 Bears won Super Bowl XX, Ryan left Chicago to become the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and Fisher went with him. He joined the Eagles as a defensive backs coach and in 1988 was promoted to defensive coordinator at the age of 30, becoming the youngest one in the league at that point. Fisher found great success despite his youth, and the 1989 Eagles defense led the NFL in interceptions (30) and sacks (62). The 1990 squad led the League in rushing defense and was second in sacks.

In 1991, Fisher headed west to be reunited with his college coach John Robinson, serving as the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator for one season. The next two seasons, he served as the defensive backs coach for the San Francisco 49ers. These years as an assistant to George Seifert placed Fisher in the Bill Walsh coaching tree. On February 9, 1994, Fisher again became a defensive coordinator, this time for the Houston Oilers under Jack Pardee. Fisher succeeded his one-time mentor Ryan, who left the post to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
I know its EPSN but John Clayton said that if Fisher gets away then he would want to go to Dallas.

Just food for thought. Other things to consider while throwing names/big names around are: Would a coach want to coach for Jed York? Would Jed York shell out the big bucks for an established NFL head coach?

We should just put together an all star staff.

Holmgren = HC/OC
Gruden = QB coach
Fisher = DC

and Manning at QB

Adrian Peterson at RB

I was gunna say Mike Singletary as our waterboy but he'd be too conservative with the water. Our players would be dehyrdated. To solve the problem, he'd probably give them less water.

CBS Sports' Charley Casserly reports that the Titans are expected to pay Vince Young a $4.25 million roster bonus for 2011, which means he would return to the team next season.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio speculates that this in effect would be the Titans choosing Young over coach Jeff Fisher, since the two are unlikely to co-exist at this point. Florio adds that instead of just letting Fisher walk, owner Bud Adams might look to trade him to a team in need of a head coach. 2011 is the final year of Fisher contract that reportedly pays him between $5.5 to $6 million.

Theyll end up keeping both. They need both Young and Fisher.
Why do so many people think highly of him as a coach? What has he done to justify that?
