Let him sit. Smith is our QB going into next year. That's all it is, so get over it.

They need to start getting him qb reps in practice.
Off the field he is best thrower of the bunch

We have no clue what we have in Alex. He is still not a gamer and is by no means CLUTCH in any situation. There should be competition at that spot big time. He needs to step up in big games or step out.
As an organization we need to be looking high and low for a leader. This is 2010 and no team wins without a player face to the team at QB. We can run all we want, but the QB is the general.
True our young team needs to mesh, but Alex does not see the field well, he is not natural, and is still very timid.

Smith played bad last night but he is our QB for 2010 with hopefully Nate Davis as the backup. Then if Smith is bad next season we might get Davis a chance. I donĀ“t want us to draft a Quarterback next year because i think Nate Davis could be our future guy. Remember that if he had played well in the bowl game last year.......he could have been a 1st round pick.
We have to give Alex the benefit of playing in the same system two years in a row. Especially with the talent we now have on offence. Give him some protection to add to that and if we are still wondering what we have in Smith next year. Then he will go.

Frankly, he should get a chance to play in one of the next two games, but I doubt he will. The 49ers should try and figure out what they have going into next years darft. They certainly know what they don't have with Smith, which is a franchise QB. Again, wishfull thinking; they are not going to play Davis and they are not going to draft Bradford or Clausen.

The Niners are in a tough position.
You have to give Smith One more season, one full off season to get chemistry with the O.
Draft a stud Right Tackle and than make the decision to yet again switch QB's. 49ers have to maintain some continuity. If that is done they will be a better team next year.
