MadDog's Big 253 Final Board

The Day has finally arrived and here is my final entire draft board, projecting the general area I believe players will be selected.

Couple Notes:
1. The first round is mocked, including trades, but this is not a 7-round mock. Since teams will be selecting all over the place, it is impossible to peg the correct player to the correct team in the correct spot in the 6th round. Check out the number of exchanged places in the 2011 draft, and you will be shocked.

2. This is not a best available board, nor is it a 49ers best available board. This is a projection of the general idea players will be selected.

3. OTC and I have beaten the experts who do this for a living in the raw number of selectees (OTC clipped me by three last year), while averaging in the top 3 in the first 100 picks selected. My average over the last ten years for the whole draft has been 205 draftees selected, which seems horrific since nearly 50 players will be chosen who are not on my board. It is the nature of the draft. However, the experts' average from the key websites and prognosticators (CBS Sports, Scouts, Inc., GBN Report, NFL Draft Scout, Walters, Fox Sports, DraftTek, Mel Kiper, and others) averages only 192 players, almost a half round less per draft. This is my greatest focus. Only one 7 round mock posted a better overall number than OTC and I in 2011, which had not happened in the previous five years. Now, watch us flame out in 2012......

4. Look for the Niners to select a couple of these lesser known players in the late rounds: Jason Slowey, Jeremy Jones, Gino Gradkowski, Matt Broha, Ryan Davis, Ronnie Cameron, Desmond Marrow, Tavaris Cadet, Chris Anzevino. Time to bone up on these guys because they are late rounders jumping on the screen soon.

5. I will be on the board Thursday and Friday nights, breaking down the draft, giving best player available information, and more. Will attempt to do the same on Saturday, but may be away for sections of time.

Have fun, and feel free to send questions, criticism and more. Cheers.

you could of at least bolded the picks MD

Good Luck MD. Thanks for sharing. I really appreciate the work you and OTC put into these things. It makes the off season almost bearable.

We will probably own about 3 of them total by the end of the draft. Blackjack Baalke will be moving up and down the board.

you think he makes a big day 1 trade at all?

If his "guy"...if there is a guy..isn't there, yes.

Personally, I'm hoping we do trade out of it unless someone special has fallen.
Looks pretty damn good, MD.

- I would have Streeter and Childs about 40 spots higher. You misspelled Jake Bequette's name. Jon Massaquoi looks too low for me. I'd have Juron Criner and Matt Reynolds a bit higher.

Overall though, it's a strong list.

Only down. Browns may want to get up to 30 to draft Weeden. Jets may want to use their second rounder and more compensation to jump back into late first to select best available RB.

Being at 30 is great trade down position. See what the Pats have done over the years in the similar area.

Thanks for note on Bequette's spelling. Not sure why I had him with an "A". Massaquoi had a disappointing combine (4.89 speed), and I think he drops a round lower than what many expect. NFLDraftScout has him at 134 right now, about a dozen slots higher than me. I think the late 4th round, early 5th round slot is about right. A couple of the late riser hybrids, Fugger and Burris, leapfrog him and push him down a bit, in my estimation.

Criner looked solid at the Senior Bowl, and then posted a really pedestrian forty at the combine (4.68). I could be completely off on him, but once again, I think the similar sized players with better measurables and quick smurf slot WR's leapfrog him on Saturday. Reynolds may go higher, but he will be 28 when the season begins (you get that with BYU players). I believe this pushes him down farther than expected.

Childs still has health concerns. Not sure what the medicals say, but I think this might push him down further than expected. Just a hunch on x-rays and medical reports we as fans never see. Streeter is a straightline guy who is going to fall into the 4th or 5th round. I'd be shocked if he cracks top 100.

I could be wrong on these guys. I just think some get jumped by others and the fall begins.

maddog-with the buzz re 49ers and bruce irvin, what is your take? does irvin have what it would take to be a standout pass rusher, or is just a speed/edge rusher with no other moves?

Oh MadDog?

DONT CARE, LOL

jk, U mad dog?
MD, since Silatolu might be the pick, I'm just curious as to where he started on your first Draft Board and how has he progressively moved as you've made more and more of these? What's the quick scouting report on this kid?

Got to be smoke trying t make others think the Pats have interest
I thought he would be a late second round selection in January. Seems to be a very hot player right now. Upside is huge. Big, strong, tough kid who loves to hit and play through the whistle. Old school physical mauler. To me, better in tight spaces. Brooks better on the move. Not polished like Zeitler, but has ability to play four line positions if needed.
Last year you admittedly undervalued Aldon but the guy you wanted, JJ Watt would also have been a tremendous pick. This close to the draft, do you have 3-4 guys you'd like to see the Niners draft at 30 who you project will be potentially great NFL players at that pick?
