Patriots offense passed for 5000 yards and so did the Saints. Both have a different style. We are definately not built like the saints. If we are trying to be than we better draft a bunch of wr's. Drafting a big time TE makes alot of sense to me in this upcoming draft. It still gives Alex another big weapon to throw to with VD. The Superbowl last, the Giants linebackers could not handle Hernandez and when Gronk was healthy it was the same thing. So who cares what position it is, we just need Big Bodied Playmakers.

What's the difference between a TE and a WR?
Seriously? Harbaugh plays pretty much a full 2 TE gameplan anyways. If a 6'6" TE is more of a threat to opposing defenses than any receiver you can find at the back end of the 1st round, what's the difference to you?

That's exactly what I want. I don't give a damn if its a WR or TE, whatever will make this team more dangerous. Quite a few teams have 2 good receivers, basically nobody has 2 good tight-ends and Fleener has experience playing WR as well, to me that makes it a bigger matchup concern for a defense.
Just looking at the NFC West, which one of those teams is prepared to defend against 2 very good tight-ends? If Fleener turns out to be a Gronkowski-type of player AND you still have Vernon Davis? How do you hope to defend against that?

Jimmy Graham was taken in the 3rd and Gronk and Hernandez were both in the 2nd. Fleener just makes a lot of sense for us. He knows the system, he is already the type of football player Harbs likes. He is big and can block. You can throw jump ball passes to him in the endzone. Our strength right now is Defense and Ball Control offense. We should keep building on that and getting better at it. If the D is good than we will always have a chance. Alex played well but Gore is the offense right now. Maybe in 5 years we will be different but for now, I like sticking with this game plan.

Is there any fast/ tall TE in the draft after Fleener? I would hate it if they passed on him but baalke seems like he targets specific players.

I would actually see Fleener as more of a Hernandez type. I'm not totally against taking Fleener, but I still think that we need to be better on the perimeter. Right now we offer no threat outside the numbers. We need to make deffense's defend both the middle and the edges of the feild. Due to this, I would still value a WR slightly higher. If we sign a guy in Fa then I'm all for taking Fleener with our pick.

We have no issues with the TE position and taking one in the 1st is laughable. We need a reciever that can go over the middle (Crabby) and another that can stretch the field. Sanu would be a nice complement to Crabtree. We don't need another pass catching TE; we need one that can primarily block and on accasion go out on a pattern.

I agree that we need to improve the WRs. The great question will be when? If we got Fleener it would improve our playmakers, and then if we got Joe Adams, and another WR in the draft, and we get Morgan back, and we got a FA then we would in theory have covered our WRs.
With playmakers and Wrs set then we need to get another RB, an OLB, and a CB or two. As well as some Dline and Oline backup help.
