I'm hoping that Alshon Jeffery surprises people with an excellent Pro Day. If that was the case, Hill could be available for us, or Jeffery.

This!

I'm like you SF, Jeffery or Hll at #30 with Fleener being another candidate. To be honest, I am starting to feel real good about our chances at #30.

And at Hill's Pro Day...

Stephen Hill caught all 12 passes thrown to him by QB Eric Ward at Georgia Tech's Pro Day.

He caught all the passes, yippppppeeee! K, now. How about some info on his route running?

so do you think the 49ers will be drafting eric ward?

trade back then draft him

A tall, imposing WR with long arms and big hands, Hill was mostly asked to block in Georgia Tech's triple-option offense. As a blocker, Hill is outstanding, consistently locating, controlling, moving, and pancaking smaller DBs, and more than holding his own against LBs. Hill, despite high hips, bends his knees, uses good technique, and has good range and power blocking.

He's already the type of WR blocker we need. Then add this...
Release: Has exceptional length, reach, and power in hands, and easily negates the press. Not overly sudden, needs some steps to get to top speed. Tends to release a bit high and upright. Not overly explosive initially, but top speed is impressive once attained.

Hands: Has generally good hands, with the capacity for the outstanding catch. Tremendous ability to high point. Good at tracking the throw and adjusting his route. Natural hand catcher. Has great leaping ability and can extend and snatch with elite skill, even at full speed.

Great analysis by Rang and he also has us taking Hill at #30 in his recent Mock. It's a sign!

Heyward-Bey made a huge improvement this year, still shouldnt have been drafted where he was but he is getting better

I'm not disagreeing. You never know what will happen with Free Agency and all those WR's that need to be signed. Teams like Chicago or Houston could sign VJax and or Colston and then not go with a WR in the 1st.

I am all for trading for any guy we want. Last year didn't we have like 11 picks to package together though...

If Chicago gets Colston or Vjax, they might pick Fleener . Tice likes TEs, especially since he was one.

That is not Bey at all. He's not a "Natural hand catcher", not one bit. Has bricks as hands, dropping too many balls. Although, he improved this year. Hill is much more reliable in just the short amount of time he's been asked to actually catch in that triple option.

Hill has Bey's reach, speed and arm length, but much better with the hands and especially his blocking. So...

12 passes thrown to him at his pro day? Guess they're still simulating their offense over there at GT.

Or getting him ready to be a 49er

I bet the top of the 2nd he will, he is hot right now because of the combine. Teams still have to take into consideration that he was not talked about this highly prior to the combine...so the film speaks more then raw numbers at this point. I would still rather move back, get more picks, then take him early in the 2nd.
Will be happy with Hill or Fleener TBH, hopefully they are both there and available letting our FO choose who they feel will be best.
