Lose our starting SS because he's a b***h and doesn't like competition, and we don't get compensated? Because we're not the Patriots?

I can't see how we don't get any more comp. for the circumstances.
We don't get any type of second thought when it comes to the filmed practice in London; but we ARE the example of the league getting punished. We have an Andy Reid who has ongoing relations (or whatever) during the season with our player under contract, but no worries for his team. Although at the same time we are getting fined for our CURRENT COACH GETTING TO KNOW OUR CURRENT QB.

f**k that.

Man I love the 49ers so much and its going to be even sweeter when us true fans see all the things the team will overcome to win this s**t.

My man, love the passion!

I agree. Like someone else already said, it's basically allows us to lock up 2 more players we would otherwise pursue as undrafted free agents. That's great, because there are some good players that don't go undrafted, and you have to compete to get them. Remember last year, when we lost Blount....

Those two picks will be really valuable if the lockout is still in place. More ammunition for the brain trust to build solid depth whether or not the CBA is in place at the time.

Not to mention, we could package those two picks to move up in the later rounds.

This is great! We can target our 3rd qb now basically for free. I'm getting PUMPED again for the draft! I need to start stocking up on beer since I'm off for all 3 days

True... But it does mean we could trade our other two 7ths, or our two 6ths, and still have a couple picks at the end of the draft to lock up some future practice squad players.

Normally 7th round picks are pretty useless for trade value. But if there's no CBA then teams may way to have an extra 7th or two to get guys they would otherwise sign as undrafted free agents. So our two regular 7ths could have more value this year than they normally would.

Maybe we could end up getting another guy in the 5th if we packaged some of our 6ths and 7ths.
So what do you guys prefer all those extra picks in the low round or would you trade one forth, 6th, and two sevenths for a possible last pick of the third round (based somewhat on the Trade value chart.) Quantity-hoping to get lucky in a crap shoot or Quality-one high pick, which is no guarentee either way as it depends on your scouts and gm's ability.

My personal feeling on the draft is that you want as many picks between the late 1st and early 4th as possible. It's not that scientific, I just think the draft is inherently kind of a crap shoot. But if you can get a bunch of picks in the early middle part of the draft you have a good chance of getting some good players.

I think the Pats have been amazing at this. They clearly try to get as many 2nd round picks as possible.

So yeah, I'm in favor of using some of the many late picks we have to move up and get one more mid round guy. I wouldn't mind trading back from 7 as well.....
