Miami might not have taken him but someone else could have traded him to get him...u guys all act like u guys know what's going on in there.

Davis was the guy the Niners wanted and we got him, stop the b***hing and be happy we solidified our OL.

At first I didn't understand why we traded up 2 spots to get a guy that would have been there at 13.... but we don't know what goes on behind closed doors....

For all we know, Denver could have gotten a offer from another team to trade up and get Davis.... Denver being the brilliant team they are, might have given the Niners a call, sharing this trade information and offering a trade, knowing we needed a OL and a we have a higher pick to offer.

That is the only logical reason I can come up with for the trade.

Either way we got our guy! GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well according to Sing on his presser that he likes Davis physicality. I guess Sing didn't see Bulaga physical enough. The only linemen that he prefers is Williams in which Washington picks. Here is the link for the rest of Sings press interview after the draft on Tim K's blog.

Davis is a beast compared to Bulaga. He has better size with long arms. There is a reason why no one traded up for Bulaga and he fell all the way to Green Bay who desperately need OL help. If GB thought Bulaga was that great, they wouldn't have taken the risk and would have traded up for him.

Great pick-up. The Niners got their RT... and potentially a LT in the future.

True the trade does seem useless anyway you look at it. Only thing i can think of is that they must've thought somebody else would trade up for him so they made the move.

That's my assessment as well. Wish we could have gotten Davis at 13 and kept fourth, but I need to believe the GM in waiting knew something I didn't.

Because Davis has the highest ceiling of all the OTs in the draft.

Like Oher, he sounds a little timid in interviews. They call it "maturity", I call it non-sense. We got a steal.

He won't be on the left his rookie year if ever. Davis is more of a mauler RT.

I'm not sure what your "if ever" is based on, maybe the little things that the media have blown way out of proportion (Weight issues? Andre Smith's issues were night and day compared to Davis's). If Joe Staley and Davis were in the same draft class, Davis would still be the better OL. He wasn't a 5 star recruit going into college because he had a pretty face.

I do realize that we're not all privy to what may/may not have been happening behind closed doors.

Don't get me wrong, I love the pick, but I do believe that Baalke may have just panicked a little bit. Again, this is just my speculation until something else comes out otherwise.

Yes, I do realize it's only a 4th rounder, but I would have been personally content with Bulaga and Iupati.
