Both Seattle and St. Louis pick before us. So you mean Arizona?

Seattle also picks right after us #14. I don't think they want to spend their #6 on Clausen.

- True. Nate may not develop into the player people want him to be.
- True. David Carr COULD be a career backup. Or he could also resurrect his career in San Francisco. I doubt he would have signed with us just because he's from the area.
- I doubt that Bam Bam would have tweeted if Alex were "not a leader" and nobody would have gone to Sing about the Offense last season if this were the case. I'll take the actions and words of the rest of the team into account rather than your expertise.
In any case you have some valid concerns but no way in hell we take Clausen or any other QB in the 1st 4 rounds unless they plummet like a rock and are just too good to pass up. Baalke is playing it close to the vest for a reason. Which is good.
People think McCloughan sucked on draft day. I don't believe that he did. He got this team 2 picks in the 1st round and we've had 2 picks in the 1st round in years previous because of McC. That should be enough for fans. But unfortunately if you don't get a blue chip player at EVERY pick(with this team) then you suck.
Like I told a coach when I umped a little league game back in High School. Get your ass out here if you can do a better job. If not shut up and lemme do my job.I didn't hear another word from him the rest of the game.

I agree with what I read above. If McCloughan was leading the charge, i'd be a lot more inclined to believe that it was a smoke screen. But with Baalke, I'm not so sure.
I personally hope that it is a smokescreen.

I think that they'll take whatever they can at this point. They have a QB who is injury prone. It's in their best interest to take a QB and Carrol knows it. Seneca Wallace is okay but he's not a Starter. They have to get someone to look to the future and now would be the time for them to do so. They also have to pick up a Tackle as Jones looks to be retiring. So they have one pick that mirrors ours. I think that's why Baalke is not correcting anyone other than to say "no comment". It would be smart to get another pick by trading back. But even smarter still if it forces your division rivals to consider flipping their list and taking a QB before they wanted to.
That's what I was pointing out. But thanks for reminding me about 14.

I can see Baalke doing it if he had been promoted to GM, because it makes sense he would want to draft "his guy", but he hasn't been promoted. I just hope Clausen is picked before us.

It has to be. They'd be starting all over if they pick Clausen!

I can see us drafting him as trade bait. Maybe getting a good starter and two other picks for him, like a 2nd and 4th rounder

best case scenario: Clausen is picked before #13, which allows a good player that we can use immediately to drop to us.
Second best: Clausen lasts to #13 (or 17) and we use him as trade bait to move back a little in the first and pick up some primo draft picks for this year or next.
Third best: We trade #13 and #17 to move up into the top ten and take Okung and avoid the Clausen mess altogether.
The Not Okay Scenario which throws a big question mark around the upcoming season: draft Clausen at 17.
The claw my eyes out and throw the remote through the screen scenario: draft Clausen at 13.

I don't know if it is or what but imho which us only important to me, I might add. I think if he is there at 13 we select because we have no idea what our team holds at QB. WIth so much question at the position it makes sense to secure a bonafide starter if one were available. If there at 13 and we don't take him he will be snatched up before 17. My .02.
Go Niners....I hope

What tweets are you talking about? What have players been saying?
And let's hear you voice your "expertise". Is Alex the type of QB you want leading this team?
And for God's sake, stop signing your posts!

he didnt say they would be willing to trade up for him. he quotes the dude from NFL network and Kawakami as saying that. he was just going over all the points. No where does he suggest the Niners trade up for Clausen

Mark my words, there is only ONE player we will trade up for:
Eric Berry, S, Tenn.
And that trade most likely depends 100% on Cleveland Browns and what they do.
