What would a Singletary-run draft look like?

Really? Spiller? Singletary's #1 issue is OT, and will go OT if the value is there at 13. His #2 issue was the secondary getting burned.

YES Spiller. Niners lost two games in 2009 directly attributable to poor kick return game. When not fumbling the ball in our own half of the field we had poor field position most of the time due poor kick return game. If Spiller is available at #13 grab him because a lot of people believe he is the next Devin Hester. Can still get Trent Williams at #17.
1. Oline
2. Oline
3. Oline
4. BPA
5. BPA
6. BPA
7. BPA
etc

OT and Taylor Mays

I can see that; It all depends on whether OT is worth it at 13, and whether he thinks he can 'coach up' Taylor Mays.

If Sing can 'coach him up', Mays could be the next Ronnie Lott.

I can also see Sing going with A. Davis and Iupati in the first round.

That would give him the line that he wants.

Personally I would love if we draft 2 OL with our first two picks, it wouldn't be "sexy" but it would be a hell of a start for a dominating line.

Davis/Iupati would be insane, assuming that Sing can motivate Davis.
tackle and ryan mathews!

I think we'll be drafting more for need than we would have otherwise. Singletary might not survive a bad season, and so he's going to make sure that he gives himself the best chance to win now possible. So I expect him to try and fix the things he think kept us out of the playoffs last year. My guess is that means OL, KR/PR, and secondary.

I don't think this is entirely bad. I think we've hurt ourselves the last few years by being so against drafting for need. Last off season it was obvious that pass rush and pass protection were our greatest weaknesses. But we didn't do anything to fix them in the draft. And our O Line sucked and opposing QBs were able to throw TDs when they needed them to beat us. So I think addressing our weaknesses is long over due.

I just hope this doesn't mean we draft Taylor Mays because there's no one to tell Singletary not to.

I wouldn't say Pass Rush was a weakness at all as we were tied for 3rd in the league in sacks. The two biggest weaknesses were O-Line (both pass and run blocking) and our pass defense.

And Singletary has expressed a lot of interest in Mays, still hope we don't draft him tho lol

I meant that last off season those were our biggest needs. Meaning, those were the areas we weakest in the 2008 season. I agree that it turned out our pass rush was better than expected in 2009, even though we didn't end up drafting a pass rusher. However I still think it's an area that we should have improved. I don't think we get enough pressure on the QB from our OLBs. If we had a better pass rusher there I think our secondary would look better.

Even though we got a lot of sacks, I still feel like there were a lot of plays where the QB had a lot of time. I don't think we got consistent pressure. But that's just how I interpret what I saw last year.
I think Sing will draft Larry Csonka.

I think he would draft himself in the 1st Rnd and give himself a huge bonus.
Gonna be a very interesting draft!

yap spiller, sing loves to run and the ball and he said his priority is to get a good return man. i think he would get 13 with spiller knowing that seattle might take him with the 14th pick, then go with best ol with the 17th pick

The play of Crabtree in the last half of the season, with the improvment VD. had when A.Smith was running the spread out of the shotgun, just may have convinced coach of the necessity for more offensive weapons than just F.Gore.
I think we'll certainly draft a RT in the 1st. Anthony Davis and Trent Williams seem like Singletary-guys to me.

Brandon Graham is another guy I think he'd love to have. He's a relentless pass rusher and has a great motor.

If we wait to draft a RB, I think Blount is definitely going to be on our radar. He'd be a nice pick in the 4th.
Tim Tebow and Taylor Mays
