this mock has us taking both. I know we definitely need to upgrade our Oline, but these two guys would give us two homerun hitters and playmakers. I wouldn't mind going for Olinemen in the second and third rounds.

#4 corner?!?! That's stupid statement. Haden will start from day 1. When did we get pro bowl corners that can't be replaced.
Just like Malcolm Jenkins was gonna be a sure fire starter for New Orleans in his rookie year?
Clements and Spencer are definitely better than Haden is now, I think Tarrell could put up a fight to him.
Yeah but look how that played out for New Orleans. You want to know why you didn't hear Austin Collie's name at the Super Bowl? Because he wasn't getting blanketed. Think about it. We would either be using the best corner in the draft as our nickel guy or we would be using Nate Clements as it. Those slot mismatches you'd normally see aren't going to be there. You can argue value all you want, but it's becoming more and more of passing league every offseason and corners are a premium.
You're also forgetting that Clement's contract is about to go thru the roof and he's probally going to get cut next offseason. Draft Haden now and his replacement will be ready to go come the 2011 season.

We're getting a RT in the first round. You can take that to the bank

It looks like a tie between a shut down corner (Joe Haden) and a change of pace running back and kick returner (CJ Spiller)

If you're trying to decide between a "shutdown" CB and Spiller, then Haden is the easy choice. The problem is that Haden hasn't proven anything to where we can assume he's going to be a "shutdown" CB in the NFL. He may be the top-rated CB, but that doesn't make him a safe pick at all. CBs are always risky picks.
I think some people are already throwing Haden into the elite class of NFL CBs and that's just a little premature. He had his struggles in college and CB typically take some time to adjust to the NFL. You have to be realistic and understand that he's going to take his lumps and learn behind Clements and Spencer.

They have JPP going in the second? He wont fall out of the first with this freakish physical tools. No OT in either the first 2 rounds = Fail

Its Spiller for me. He fills 3 holes for this team. Anyway you wanna spin it, Spiller can help the offensive line, gives us big plays, shortens the field with return ability and above everything else he can spell Gore.

It's got to be Haden, the shut down corner. I'd be thrilled with any of the three. The chances that all three would be there is nil. I'm hoping one of them will be there and most likely that's Spiller.

Very much true, just look at Darrelle Revis from the NY Jets.

Why don't we make the spiller and haden camps happy if both are available...trade the #17 or #16 and package it with some other picks (except the second) to move up and pick both? Then trade the 2nd and whatever is left to move back into the first providing their is a lineman we want still available!
All kidding aside, since this is a passing leaque now another corner is always good to have.
I just don't see spiller touching the ball that much with the niners present offensive mindset and coaches.

It's got to be Haden...and before folks think it couldn't happen, if you look back at the last several drafts, the 1st CB off the board was right about where we'll be picking. If Haden's gone, then it'd be Spiller...like Haden, best at his position. He'd also be a value pick, as he'll do several things between ST's and the backfield. However, I'd caveat the #13 pick that if Singletary isn't comfortable waiting on his OT to #16/17, he just may pull the trigger on the guy he wants (most likely Bulaga or Trent Williams) and worry about BPA with his 2nd 1st rounder.
