SANTA CLARA — Trent Williams predicted the 49ers would see a productive Deebo Samuel this season, and through four games, the left tackle has been proven correct. “Y’all recall, when we signed Deebo, I said we were going to get the best Deebo we’ve seen,” Williams said after the 49ers’ 24-14 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium. “So far, he’s been making my words true. Really proud of him. We anticipated this. We knew Deebo was coming back with a vengeance and really happy for him.”
Samuel contributed on the ground with three carries for 44 yards, and as a receiver, he caught five of his six targets for 26 yards and a touchdown. The All-Pro’s 20-yard run at the end of the second quarter helped the 49ers drive down the field, getting Eddy Piñiero close enough to tie the game 3-3 before the half.
Coach Kyle Shanahan was impressed by how Samuel gained more yards than expected.
