The San Francisco 49ers are bolstering their wide receiver group, signing veteran wide receiver Willie Snead to a one-year deal. The news comes courtesy of Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network. Earlier, the 49ers announced that the team has released wide receiver Taysir Mack.

The team worked out Snead and wide receiver Dede Westbrook during Friday's practice. Wide receiver Marcus Johnson is in the concussion protocol after a hit from linebacker Fred Warner during Tuesday's practice.

The Cleveland Browns signed Snead (5-11, 195) as an undrafted free agent out of Ball State in 2014. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was the offensive coordinator in Cleveland at the time. The receiver registered 1,879 yards and seven touchdowns with the New Orleans Saints from 2015 through 2016. More recently, he caught 33 passes for 432 yards with three touchdowns with the Baltimore Ravens in 2020.

Snead, 29, spent last season with the Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panthers, recording four receptions for 38 yards through nine game appearances. He has amassed 279 career catches for 3,431 yards with 16 touchdowns through 95 games with 48 starts since 2015.

Last year, Purdy was still recovering from surgery to repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow. He didn't get to throw to his teammates until training camp in
