49ers special teams comes through in the biggest moments

By Chris Beno
Jan 23

The San Francisco 49ers upset the Green Bay Packers 13-10, punching their ticket to the NFC Championship Game. With the wind chill bringing the temperature down to zero degrees, the only thing colder was both teams' offense, with both struggling for the majority of the game. The 49ers finished the game with 212 total yards on offense, after only having 58 total yards in the first half. All of the points in this game came from the special teams unit, which has emerged as the team's Achilles heel for most of the season. Towards the end of the first half, 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo evaded pressure and forced a pass to tight end George Kittle that got intercepted in the red zone. The Packers marched downfield and got into field goal range to try

49ers-Cowboys: Kyle Shanahan brings up old rivalry to give players a spark

By Kirk Larrabee

Most of the players on the current San Francisco 49ers roster are too young to remember when their team had a heated and historic rivalry with the Dallas Cowboys, but 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan made sure they were aware of it before the two teams faced off in the Wild Card playoff round on Sunday. The 49ers and Cowboys met seven times in the postseason over the course of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, with one of those meetings (the 1981 NFC Championship Game) featuring the most memorable play in 49ers history (Dwight Clark's game-winning touchdown catch to help send the 49ers to their first Super Bowl). The rivalry peaked in the 90s, when the teams met in the NFC Championship game for three consecutive seasons, with the winner of each game going on to win the Super Bowl.

49ers' Deebo Samuel to Kyle Shanahan before TD run vs. Cowboys: 'Just give me the ball. I got you.'

By David Bonilla

Deebo Samuel has become a very confident player for the San Francisco 49ers. He is willing to do whatever it takes to get the football in his hands and make a play. Samuel is a wide receiver but lines up as a running back too. He led the 49ers with eight rushing touchdowns this season. Samuel had another rushing touchdown during Sunday's 23-17 playoff win against the Dallas Cowboys. That one was impressive, as it involved Samuel improvising on the play and turning back inside to get into the end zone. That wasn't how the play was drawn up, by the way. How did Deebo even find this hole? 😱

Why it's time to give 49ers DL Arik Armstead the respect he deserves

By Rohan Chakravarthi
Jan 25

Arik Armstad's overpaid. The 49ers should've stuck with DeForest Buckner. Arik Armstead's had one good season in his career. Prior to this season, there were many narratives spoken about 49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead and his value to this football team. He had been the man stuck in DeForest Buckner's shadow, as Buckner reminded fans during San Francsico's improbable Super Bowl run two seasons ago, while Armstead was just seen as his interior complement. However, after injuries to Nick Bosa, Solomon Thomas, and Dee Ford derailed San Francisco's defensive line early in the 2020 season, Armstead was left as the last member standing of that talented 2019 group and garnered a ton of attention. His contributions were severely underrated, as his
