This is getting ridiculous. The most-injured team in the NFL last year just can't get to the season in one piece. On Monday during OTAs, backup safety Tarvarius Moore ruptured his Achilles, and backup offensive tackle Justin Skule tore his ACL, according to a team spokesman. The NFC West is on a roll, which isn't necessarily great news for the San Francisco 49ers when it comes to the success of their division rivals. Through two weeks of NFL play this season, the NFC West is 7-1 as a whole. That, of course, includes the 49ers' Week 2 17-11 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The Seattle Seahawks became the first NFC West to lose a game, falling to the Tennessee Titans 33-30 in Week 2. The Los Angeles Rams beat the Indianapolis Colts 27-24 and the Arizona Cardinals edged the Minnesota Vikings 34-33. That would land Verrett on injured reserve for the sixth time in his eight NFL seasons. The cornerback admitted that he considered retirement after suffering a torn Achilles tendon in 2018 and was glad to get another chance with the 49ers. Now, he may be facing yet another difficult journey after staying relatively healthy last season and proving himself

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided several injury updates during a conference call this afternoon. Among them was confirmation that cornerback Jason Verrett would miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. A surprising injury update was that running back Raheem Mostert will miss about eight weeks after sustaining some chipped knee cartilage. He exited the game in the first half and was replaced by rookie Elijah Mitchell. The 49ers spent two draft picks on running backs. In addition to Mitchell, a sixth-round pick, the team drafted Trey Sermon out of Ohio State in the third round.

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert was only supposed to miss eight weeks after suffering a knee injury against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. However, he revealed today that he plans to have season-ending surgery instead to repair the damage. "After consulting with multiple doctors and weighing my options, I will be having season-ending surgery to repair my knee," wrote Mostert. "This gives me, without a doubt in my mind, the best possibility at coming back 110%. I have ALWAYS come back stronger and I will this time too! I have faith in myself, my doctors, my support system, my team, and God. He makes no mistakes!!" On Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that Mostert chipped cartilage in his knee and would have surgery but
