The NFC West is on a roll, which isn't necessarily great news for the San Francisco 49ers when it comes to the success of their division rivals. Through two weeks of NFL play this season, the NFC West is 7-1 as a whole. That, of course, includes the 49ers' Week 2 17-11 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The Seattle Seahawks became the first NFC West to lose a game, falling to the Tennessee Titans 33-30 in Week 2. The Los Angeles Rams beat the Indianapolis Colts 27-24 and the Arizona Cardinals edged the Minnesota Vikings 34-33. There is a three-way tie for the division lead, proving what many believed—that the NFC West would likely be the most competitive division this season. "NFC West,

On March 26, 2021, the 49ers traded three first-round picks to the Miami Dolphins to move up to the third-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Most knew trading to that spot meant the 49ers would be taking a quarterback. Since that point, the talk and debate over 49ers' quarterbacks has been constant. That increased even further after the 49ers did the expected and took a quarterback with the third-overall pick, Trey Lance. Fast forward to Week 1 of the regular season, and not much has changed. Jimmy Garoppolo will be returning as the starter, but there are indications that the 49ers may be implementing a two-quarterback system in some form, which is something you do not see very often in the NFL. There is the potential for both Garoppolo and Lance to

The San Francisco 49ers fear the worst but are praying for the best when it comes to starting cornerback Jason Verrett. The defender went down late during Sunday's 41-33 victory against the Detroit Lions, and head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed after the game that the team fears he suffered a torn ACL. That would land Verrett on injured reserve for the sixth time in his eight NFL seasons. The cornerback admitted that he considered retirement after suffering a torn Achilles tendon in 2018 and was glad to get another chance with the 49ers. Now, he may be facing yet another difficult journey after staying relatively healthy last season and proving himself

'Things are slowing down for me': Jimmy Garoppolo more comfortable than ever with 49ers offense

There were two narratives presented to San Francisco 49ers fans this offseason. The first was by the team itself. Even though it was drafting a quarterback of the future in Trey Lance, Jimmy Garoppolo remained very much in the plans for 2021. The other narrative was that the 49ers sought to trade Garoppolo but couldn't find a deal that fits. The team didn't care which narrative you believed. It was just moving forward with its plan. The 49ers, after all, have become incredibly proficient at blocking the outside noise, even as the coach, general manager, and player after player are repeatedly asked about the quarterback situation. Garoppolo might tell you it's an "it-is-what-it-is kind of thing," as he often does. And he'd be correct. He refused to
