Earlier this offseason, one new defensive teammate impressed Nick Bosa so much that the San Francisco 49ers pass rusher wanted to know what round the Niners selected the player. The rookie that impressed the defensive phenom was linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball, an undrafted linebacker. McCrary-Ball spoke with reporters after Sunday's practice. While most players offer the media short answers to get through the press conferences quickly, McCrary-Ball does things differently, admitting to having a tendency to rant. However, the rookie linebacker's sincerity and openness make him someone you want to cheer for during his NFL journey. It looks like the San Francisco 49ers are comfortable with rookie Samuel Womack III serving as the team's nickel cornerback. The Niners announced that they have released veteran Darqueze Dennard, who was competing with Womack for the spot. Dennard wasn't the only player cut as the team makes its way down to the 85-player maximum required by 1 p.m. tomorrow. The following players were also waived. "Everything has definitely slowed down": 49ers QB Trey Lance more comfortable in 2nd season

KNBR was live at the San Francisco 49ers facility in Santa Clara and had an opportunity to speak with Trey Lance. The second-year quarterback feels more acclimated to the area and the team following a whirlwind 2021 campaign. "I know where all the Chipotles are nearby and everything like that," Lance said jokingly. "For me, I just feel so much more comfortable. I know the guys in the locker room so much better. I'm obviously in a very different position than I was last year, and it's just been a ton of fun." A "very different position" is correct.
