49ers Foundation raises record-breaking donations at annual event

On Sunday, the 49ers Foundation hosted their annual "Players for a Purpose" event, presented by SAP, at Levi's Stadium, where the Faithful interacted with 49ers' players, coaches, executives, and alumni in an evening filled with festivities, including a "49ers Faithful Feud," presented by U.S. Bank. A total of $760,000 was raised at the event—the largest amount in the event's five-year history, eclipsing last year's mark of $650,000, which followed the 2020 COVID season. The funds will go towards the Foundation's mission to educate and empower Bay Area youth through collective and innovative community-focused strategies. The San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings are holding their second and last joint practice of the week at the TCO Performance Center in Eagan, Minnesota. The two squads will face each other for a preseason showdown on Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium. It's the second of three exhibition games for the 49ers. Many starters, including quarterback Trey Lance, are unlikely to play in this weekend's game. Deebo Samuel was slightly behind when he started practicing with his San Francisco 49ers teammates. That's because the star wide receiver missed the entire offseason program and the start of training camp due to a contract dispute. However, he and the 49ers eventually resolved the situation and Samuel got to work. Samuel believes he is starting to build more and more chemistry with his second-year quarterback, Trey Lance, now that the two are getting in more work together. "The first week, I really wasn't out there that much," Samuel said after Thursday's joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings.
