buster getting thrown to the wolve reporters today.

SF Local reporters won't let the bible verse- pride flag thing die. Reading comments in the Chronicle some local sf people want firings starting with Buster.

I guess if we want full equality on all sides how would things go if teams celebrated religious themed days or weeks? Tonight is Christian night, or Jewish, or Islam, or Buddhist.

A no win discussion for Buster and I can understand why he went the Bellichik route.

pretty predictable meltdown due to stupid policy by a stupid team, imagine going into your workplace or the dmv and saying ok i'm gonna do my business here, but first let me talk about trans..

it's an absurdly divisive topic, and you don't get to wear that in front of 35k and millions around the world and think it's acceptable, they are getting 100% the reaction they deserve and maybe next year they will say we are a team and we are about baseball, not politics. whoever is in the higher ups and said let's divide the team and the fanbase, half will wear one hat, half will wear the other, that's not a team. if you want pride night go to the pride parade go to the castro, how about we focus on baseball, and not who has sex with who night, it's pathetic

You went a long time without posting on WZ. I miss those days.

i wouldnt say theyre fighting unless your version of fighting is trying not to fall asleep after Thanksgiving dinner
a non-chalant, cavalier attitude looks better on a first place team, but still is like a guy wearing a fedora. its okay if you wanna, but dont admonish them with a "bro those hats look better on cute girls."

Okay. Struggling is probably a better word.
Bericoto really crushed that ball last night. they said 445 feet. At Oracle in the night that's a titanic blast. Probably gors 475 at Coors Field.

He called the media scrum ? He threw himself to the wolves to not answer questions.. really bizarre move.

buster is out of his depth

his moves have bombed for a year now and he's taking heat overnight cuz he didn't sufficiently bend the knee
at least the team is interesting, not the baseball, but the trainwreck of decision making

He almost knocked out the home plate ump when he threw his bat lol.

Bericoto again too. Another 445 ft shot. With so much attention on Eldridge he looks like he's saying hey I can play too. Looks good defensivewly too. If he can continue like this trading Ramos is more likely. Schmitt can stay at second if they trade Arraez or just be rotated between LF, 3rd and 2nd giving those players a day off.
Jeez Louise...
Still haven't swept a series lol.

Also our bullpen once again is ass.

I can't recall another year when they haven't swept at least one series in the first half of the year. That shows their inconsistency. Even bad teams have those 4-6 game winning streaks and beat a good team that they weren't expected to beat. The Giants haven't been able to win more than 3 in a row.

The numbers speak for themselves. 21 blown leads, 5 blown leads in the 9th inning alone in the first half. Imagine how many they'll blow by the end of the year.
The question is did Posey had the money and came up with this pitching staff (especially relief) on his own? Then he should be immediately relieved of his duties as the team's builder. The average Shmoe walking by the Oracle Park would have immediately told you what the result of this assembled pitching staff would be. Somehow, I have the feeling he had severe restriction spending on pitching after contracts to Lee, Chapman, Adames, Devers added to the rest of the hitters on the team and existing deals for Webb and Ray ate up the majority of the budget he can't step over one iota. He may have been hopping that the hitters he assembled will overcome the mediocre pitching, and that's backfired. Hitters didn't overcome anything and pitching turned out to be worse than mediocre. Especially the backend that is worse than atrocious.

good post,

in terms of did posey have the money, yes he did,
he outlayed over half a billion dollars to devers, adames, chap extension
and i think we are paying 10m on managers as he extended melvin before firing him for tony
so he spent the money, on bad assets that we will be paying for a long time
we lost our identity it used to be around pitching if we didn't have raffy and willy we'd have something like 400m to throw at pitching, would be nice..
then you have kyle harrison 8-1 and tibbs with 20 bombs in dodgers aaa
hard to express just how bad this mess is
then we are making national news on how we botched the recent disaster night

Larry Baer says money was not an issue. Who really knows except Buster. As for Harrison and Gibbs, nobody thought losing them was a big deal. Harrison was struggling and Tibbs wasn't hitting like that. Devers was a proven hitter and provided needed power. The fact that he has regressed is another issue. That's not Posey's fault. Harrison has done well with the Brewers but who can say if that would have happened if he stayed in SF. The Giants have a way of letting talented players fail.

Boston is the real loser here. They lost their best hitter and then let Harrison and Tibbs go.

The Giants have assembled a group of good to above average players. They have 3 players that are really hitting well. They have Webb and a couple of other starters that are okay. Bullpen is a mess. Still they should be playing better than what we've seen. This group of good individual players hasn't added up to a good team. There's a difference. We've seen this happen with other baseball teams and teams in other sports. Players have to mesh and each one needs to know their specific job for the team to be successful. Otherwise you end up with what the Giants are. A collection. Not a team.

Sure he did, to the certain amount. He could apply it either giving to / extending hitters OR assemble the pitching staff, not both. Since he was already up his creek with existing Lee, Devers and Adames contracts from prior year(s) he went all out, extended Chapman and brough in Bader, Arraez plus the rest they had. On the pitching side, Webb and Ray also already held substantial contracts for 2026. At which point he ran into the budget buzzsaw prohibiting assembling quality back end of the starting pitching and the entire bullpen. Especially where the premium lies with the leads are on the line - 7, 8 innings and the closer. He had to go bargain basement fishing to assemble those and that is the obvious result. Ownership group doesn't care for the results on the field if the profit margins are broken. Or to be more precise, they very much love positive baseball results that are accomplished within the profit boundaries as it happened in 2010, 2012, and 2014. The problem is within the current baseball landscape (especially NL West) and bunch of unique circumstances back then, those years are absolutely non repeatable precisely as they were. The ownership by far #1 goal is to keep stated profits of which the attendance provides one of the major components of that goal. However, they've taken care of that by shrewdly estimating where they had designed and opened that playground for the majority of the visitors with thought of having the families "good time out", especially over the summer and fall. This is how they constantly have 35-40 thousand people at every game, especially the weekends for the team 15-20 games under .500 They never had to fear or worry about the attendance, other than those COVID years they are still financially "recovering" from (see slowly catching up with the profits).
