At least last year they were fighting to get to .500. Now they're fighting to stay above 15 games under.

Oof Devers reverting to his Red Sox behavior. Webb looked pissed in the dugout when he came down.

Id still much rather Devers not want to come out of the game than refuse to go into the game. Obviously he showed Vitello up, but remember Santiago Casilla showed Bochy up even worse. I don't think it's as big of a deal as people are making it. To me its a more troubling sign that Vitello isn't respected in the clubhouse by the players, moreso than Devers' attitude.

This is the type of thing that happens when a team struggles. If they were 15 games over .500 instead of 15 under this wouldn't be an issue.

when we acquire devers we were actually pretty good. google shows we were 41-30. with devers we bombed. we had the worst record in mlb for that stretch leading up to deadline, and we sold in july after adding raffy in june. this is not coincidence. it goes beyond stats (where he isn't doing well anyway). it goes into who he is. he is a toddler. he is a manchild. and when you make that guy the highest paid guy in the room, the face of the franchise, the whole room sees it. he's not a good teammate. he brings the entire operation down. our record with him sucks. google says we are a 93 loss team on 162 basis with devers. and he will only get older and worse.
he was known in boston as clear red flags on character. he told the entire boston org that it's not his job and they should figure it out without him. they flew the owner to kc to meet with devers and this is not a day to day operations owner, and he effectively told the owner to get effed. then he was traded to us. we were dumb enough to not only pick up his insane contract, but to flip out harrison and tibbs. even with the obvious red flags.
the fact posey recently said he's on the block is an admission of we don't want this clown anymore please someone take him. no one will. we are stuck. all time bad decision from buster, and he still gets a pass cuz he's buster, but these moves are some of the worst i've ever seen many decades a bay area sports fan. that quote about buster looking like his dog has died he knows the team is screwed, with bad players on long term deals he made. tony is not half the manager melvin was, out of his element entirely. but it hardly matters when you build your team around a complete idiot who doesn't care anymore about anything other than his checks. i think we are in the dark ages of sfg baseball this team will not be good for a long time. aside from that i'm gonna try to get out there if prices are cheap to watch the non devers players

I guess they are friends again.
Rafael Devers said he apologized to Tony Vitello for a "misunderstanding." He said he had told Vitello earlier on the trip that he had some hamstring soreness and thought that was why he was taking him out. He also said the media blew all of this out of proportion.

SF Local reporters won't let the bible verse- pride flag thing die. Reading comments in the Chronicle some local sf people want firings starting with Buster.
I guess if we want full equality on all sides how would things go if teams celebrated religious themed days or weeks? Tonight is Christian night, or Jewish, or Islam, or Buddhist.
A no win discussion for Buster and I can understand why he went the Bellichik route.

pretty predictable meltdown due to stupid policy by a stupid team, imagine going into your workplace or the dmv and saying ok i'm gonna do my business here, but first let me talk about trans..
it's an absurdly divisive topic, and you don't get to wear that in front of 35k and millions around the world and think it's acceptable, they are getting 100% the reaction they deserve and maybe next year they will say we are a team and we are about baseball, not politics. whoever is in the higher ups and said let's divide the team and the fanbase, half will wear one hat, half will wear the other, that's not a team. if you want pride night go to the pride parade go to the castro, how about we focus on baseball, and not who has sex with who night, it's pathetic

i wouldnt say theyre fighting unless your version of fighting is trying not to fall asleep after Thanksgiving dinner
a non-chalant, cavalier attitude looks better on a first place team, but still is like a guy wearing a fedora. its okay if you wanna, but dont admonish them with a "bro those hats look better on cute girls."
