He's back on the team, and some reports are saying he's been elevated and able to play in the Seattle game. I'm not sure how accurate my info is though.

Hero, you think one or two of the DL on any given play are 1.5 gapping? I can't tell when a DLman is 1.5 gapping.
Nothing gets done without Kyle's approval. I wonder how these five man fronts came to be. I know Kocurek is pure wide9 guy, so it'd be interesting to know which of the three (Kyle/ Morris/KK), said "we gotta adjust to the sign of the times, sophisticated runs schemes are making a comeback".
I don't think they're playing 1.5 gap, but there have been some reps that stood out to me where some of the DL appear to be using more of an attack-react technique without over penetrating. It's hard to say for certain as a spectator, tho. In regards to using more 5-man fronts, Kocurek seems like he's welcomed it. He talked about how they'd be utilizing more 5-man fronts during an interview in camp where he stated that they wanted to use Raheem's extensive history with the 5-man front to solve problems that the wide 9 couldn't in the run game(ie prevent those clean 2x double teams on downhill runs like duo/inside zone) while keeping the base wide 9 to solve the problems that the 5-man front doesn't. They did flirt with 5-man fronts the last few years, but Raheem is definitely kicking up the usage a notch.
Things seem to change weekly in the trenches depending on the opponent(or maybe due to the injuries lol), which is super exciting as a fan to see.It makes the defense more difficult to gameplan against as opposed to the last couple years where it's been pretty static. This might not be the most talented 49ers' ShanaLynch defense, but Raheem Morris is starting to build a case for possibly the best coached defense during the Shanahan era.
