This Verducci article is getting a LOT of attention. I hate the state of our organization. Hate it.
He's not wrong about the state of the team they're competitive and somehow in play for the postseason but we're a boring team. Going to the city isn't as appealing as it used to be because it's so effing expensive but the team has nothing that merits attention. I don't know what we do this off-season but they need to make some moves the offense is putrid and pitching rotation is not deep.
If you aren't 10000% convinced that we are heading in the right direction, I don't see how you can legit keep farhan/kapler. How can you possibly expect these guys to go into this offseason, try to go all in and set us up with some more bad contracts? How can you expect to sign ohtani if your Prez/GM/Manager arent going to be here potentially for more than another year? Larry Baer in a tough spot

Not being so reliant on platooning would be a decent start for Zaidi.
Before the season I looked at the makeup of this team and felt they were a .500 team plus or minus 3 games. It looks like that's about how they'll end up. Fans aren't going to the games because 1) they're losing and 2) they're boring. It also doesn't help when there's no parking. Duane Kuiper mentioned that they're working on the parking lot and spaces are few and far between. He said parking can cot $100. Add that to the $100 tickets, the $12 beer and the high prices food and you have little reason to go and watch a boring team. The front office better wake up and make some sound moves in the off season.

They need at least one star player to bring out the fans and be a threat in the middle of the lineup. I'd settle for 2 really good players instead of one superstar. They need to improve the worst defense in the majors. You can't win when you keep making errors and giving up extra bases. They need 2 more solid starters that can reliably go 6-7 innings. I'll settle for 6. Their bullpen looks completely worn out from all those bullpen games. Doval just doesn't look like the same guy. They need to get rid of some older players that are always hurt. They play 10-1`5 games and then they go on the IR for 15 days. The team can't develop any continuity when they have a different lineup every day. They need to stop platooning so much. I know a lot of it is because of injuries but the rely too much on metrics. Finally they need to stop the elevator from Sacramento to SF. Stop bringing up young players unless you intend to give them a real shot. 10 games isn't enough. If you aren't going toplay them then keep them in Sacramento.

Agree with a lot of this.

Anyone listen in last night on F.P. Santangelo's KNBR show? Had some Giants fans calling in pretty pissed, mentioning a lot of the above. Some good rants, and F.P. let them speak their piece.
Well at least we get to see much more Marco now

I know you said a lot and I dont really disagree with any of this. But I will address a few things.

BOLD: As long as Kapler is our manager, our defense is going to suck. We are constantly playing players out of position so he can get those L-R and R-L matchups in the game. As long as we have catchers playing left field, first basemen playing third, etc. our defense is never going to be good.

Underline: As long as Kapler is our manager, our bullpen is always going to be worn out. He overworks our pen and I dont see this changing. Doval has to be gassed by this point.

Italic: As long as Kapler is our manager, we are always going to have a different lineup every day. There is a liiiiiiitle bit of this having to do with injuries, but much more to do with management style.

Damn. I went to SD for my first time and my wife and I went to the Giants game on Aug 31, and they won that one. Then lost the next 3 I think lol. Last year we went to a road dodgers game on labor day and it was one of only a few games they won against LA all season. I think we need to attend more road games for them to win

The defense has gone to s**t. With above-average pitching and no offense, thats a recipe for disaster.

The defense has been s**t all year. Lol gone to s**t. They lead the league in errors. They have people playing positions they shouldn't. This is Kapler's style.
