realistically we knew the pen was a weakness
dylan smith looks promising

also - all the trade webb noise is so funny/ridiculous. trade for what/who? a bat?? pitching prospects? that doesnt make sense , we arent the a's. webb is a #1 inning eater and strikeout crown contender yearly. these guys dont grow on trees.

Of course it makes no sense. That's this thread now.

Last week they wanted to trade Chapman. Fun fact: Nobody has more hits in the entire league with RISP than Chapman. He is batting .400 and slugging .677 with RISP.

Remember Mr. Negativity that hates Lee and said he SUCKS. Lee is tearing the cover off the ball hitting .330 and will be at the top of the league in extra base hits again and he SUCKS.

The Giants have pieces. They need to fix the pen. I would look at moving Ramos. And Bader. And if they really don't think Arreaz will resign, move him and play Schmitt there. For pitching. Play Cox. Play Gilbert. Send Bernicoto down. They really need Randy Rodriguez back.

The reality is you are getting some young guys more experience this year. Miss the playoffs. Make some adjustments and try to get back in it. People make more out of it than it needs to be.

Lol @ Mr. Negativity. Haven't seen him post one time since Lee became one of the best hitters in the league over the last few weeks.

What's your stance on Tony V? I hope they give him more than just 1 season to show what he can do, especially if they improve the damn pitching staff.
Last night...oof. Surprised Tony V went with Winn 3 days in a row.

Lee's hitting has overshadowed the way he's taken over right field. Right field is a difficult position at Oracle but he's played it great. He's also stareting to steal bases. As for Tony V I agree that he needs another year. They knew he had no experience and little knowledge of the current roster. Under those circumstances they have to be willing to give him another season at least. If not then they shouldn't have made the hire in the first place.

lol exactly.

As for Tony V. I think its a learning year for him. I dont think they did him justice with this bullpen. And the 3rd base coach was a bad move. But I wouldn't move on from him if the season ends up the way it will. Revisit the roster, improve the pen, and lets see what he can do with a year of experience. People want instant results in a world where your success isn't always within your control.

Yeah can't say I understand why Buster did so little with the bullpen.

Didn't have enough budget dollars left to spend

More like they spent it on the wrong pitchers.

That's the problem with spending on free agent pitchers. They can be so up and down from one year to the next. Position players are a little more stable and when they get slumps they have efvery day to work out of it. Pitchers are more unpredictable.

Of course, if you had shored up and doled out big contracts on offense, the budget line significantly shrinks your spending power everywhere else, specifically on the pitching side. Unless they tear up the budget, which is a no-no, only maybe possible due to extreme financial / marketing circumstances solidly projected operational returns back. Or you are stuck with the remaining budget to assemble the pitching staff on the bargain basement level and pray that it will somehow unexpectedly magically works out. That sometimes happens in finding an unexpected gem. Much more likely it will result in Giants acquiring lousy 4-5 starters and lousy bullpen. As it happened this year. They weren't the pitchers with well diminishing returns on the spendings, that would have made them the wrong pitchers. They were exactly what the Giants had paid for and were hoping for "well above expectation" returns. Or great offense overcoming the pitching deficiencies, which in reality failed as well.

It's good to see Bryce adjusting to hitting at the big league level. Hope he gets time fielding as well.
