KNBR has been spending a good part of the morning questionong Tony Vitello or if he shoud have even been hired. I was fine with the hire because waht the Giants have been doing in recent years wasn't working. I felt if was worth trying something else. Obviuosly the results havn't been good but I can't put all the blame on Vitello.
Posey made a couple of moves in the off season trying to improve the offense. On paper this team should be alot etter than they're showing on the field. They're hitting okay but just making too many mistakes in th field and on the bases. Players have to take responsibility for stranding so many runners on base. Posey didn't do anything to strengthen the pitching. The bullpen is horrible and the starters haven't been performing well either.
The question is do they continue with Vitello all year and bring him back or not. I think that if they weren't willing to give him a couple years to learn the players and get adjusted to MLB then they shouldn't have signed him. He was hired with no experience and knew very little about his players. He needs a chance to learn just like the young players do. He may eventually be a great manager or he may be a failed experiment. At least he should be given a fair chance with a competitive roster.
I'm so frustrated with this team so far. They may not have the best roster or manager but they sure are underachieving. Nothing can ruin my summer more than watching the team I love struggle again.
