2026 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

Trade Chapman, Adames, Devers, Arraez and anyone else they can get good prospects for. I know it's not likely that they would trade all those guys but maybe a couple this year and another one in the off season or next year.

They keep saying they're trying to win now but it's obvious it's not happening. Suck it up and be really bad for a couple years. Rebuild through the farm system like the A's and Marlins seem to do every 2 or 3 years. Of course that may mean rebuilding the scouting as well.

They only have around 30-35 full time scouts after cutting back last year. The Yankees, Dodgers and Red Sox have about 70. That's a big difference. It's no surprise that the Giants haven't been able to find the best talent. Eldridge may eventually be a good power hitter in the majors but he'll probably never hit for a high average, steal bases or be a plus fielder. If he can only be used as a DH and a part time 1st baseman then you aren't getting enough from your top prospect.

I'm wondering if those salaries are untradeable ? We would have to eat some of the costs so might as well keep them in that case.

in other news I heard our farm system Gus can hit the ball well and lead in several categories. We need pitchers though.

i could see us moving Ray for something before the deadline.

I'm just blowing off steam. Nothing in their past history or current leadership points to them ever saying their going to do a rebuild. That's not their style. They seem to think they can compete for a title every year and their fans won't put up with a rebuild. I think many of our fans are tired of the same old thing every year and would actually enjoy watching the young players come up and develop. I know they'll struggle for awhile but eventually every hitter has to learn how to hit at the major league level. Same for the pitchers. They all need to learn that extra pitch to consistently get batters out.

If these guys fail then bring up the next wave. The constant moving players up and down isn't working. Either make the decision to stick with them for a reasonable time when you bring them up or leave them in the minors until you think they can be every day players. Having Bryce play every other day or 3 times a week isn't doing him any favors.

Trading the players I named would be difficult with those salaries but there are teams that could afford them if they felt it would help their team. I don't expect it but I wouldn't be upset since this team as it's now constructed isn't winning anything. They'll be fighting to get back to .500 for much of the remainder of the year.
The worse part is the Giants can't draft higher than 10th for the 2027 draft because of the anti-tank rule.

But they are trying hard to win and still suck so they deserve to keep their picks.

just keep putting in our crappy relievers and it will happen.

That's okay. Even drafting 10th can net a good player. They usually need to spend a little time in the minors no matter where they're drafted.

My personal feelings on early draft picks is go for position players unless you have a shot at a really outstanding pitching prospect. Even then it's risky since so many pitchers develop arm trouble now. TJ surgery is almost routine. Get some power at the corners and the outfield. They have a lot of SS talent already in the minors. They can't seem to convince power hitting free agents to sign in SF so they need to draft power hitters that can play in the field as well. We don't need any more DHs.

One of the problems they have with Eldridge is he was originally drafted as a 2 way player. I think he was ranked the best 2 way prospect. The Giants quickly decided to have him abandon pitching but that meant he had to learn 1st base which he never really played much. He was like Othani in HS. Pitching and DH. You have to wonder if he could have made it as a 2 way player.

Still the 4th inning and down 9-0. Am I a bad fan for turning it off and watching something else.

Good lord. I just saw the Sox score their 5th run, and now McDonald getting pulled. Guess maybe I can turn this sh*t off too now that I know it doesn't get any better

not really, theres just so much torture i can take in a day. im ready to get beat up again tomorrow though

Love it when the fans sarcastically cheered after that inning was finally over lol.
It's surprising that the fans are still turning out for the games. Probably season ticket holders that already paid. They go there to eat dinner.

Yep, near sellout yesterday. The ownership is happy.
By the way, word "rebuild" is the biggest taboo in the Giants land you have ever heard off.
There is hope for my Casey Schmitt bowman rookie auto!

Ticket prices on the secondary are still way too high.

People are somehow finding money to attend sporting events. Ticket prices routinely go between $100-$500 or mor ebut people are still going. They'll b***h about the price of gas and then fill the tank to drive to an expensive sporting event. B***h about grocery prices and then pay through the nose for food at games.

It's worse if you are a wrestling fan. Since TKO purchased the WWE, tickets to even just live show events have gone up.
