2025 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

that pitch was well above the strike zone too, damn
Bailey the "backup" catcher with his 6th walkoff hit in 3 years, while he's about to break his own record for single season defensive value on baseball savant.

The umpire straight up blew the call.

I'm kinda surprised the Dodgers catcher and Rodgers just let it go.
HOW are the Giants a half game out of the wild card? I thought it was over a month ago. This is crazy.
That was awesome. And f*ck the dodgers!

Isn't it. And without two starting pitchers on the backend and practically no 7-9 inning closers. Well, crazy hitting since that Brewers series.
I'll totally take it one game at the time, but the next nine games are the key, with 6 against the Dodgers and 3 in AZ. If they can somehow split the 6 games with the Dodgers and take 2 out of 3 from AZ, the last six games are at home. Take 2 out of 3 from STL and sweep CO, 10-5 record in the last 15 games, keeping the current winning percentage pace. Mets have 6 games between the Marlins and Nationals but 8 games with TX, SD and the Cubs. 8-6 Mets vs 10-5 Giants and the Giants are in.
And if they don't, remember just those 8 ugly losses, sweep by the Pirates, sweep by the Marlins and loosing 2 out of 3 to the White Sox. Nothing more than that, all at home. They win 5 of those 8 games, they are basically already in.
Idgaf, Giants homerun calls are the best in the league.

I've been a Giants fan since the 1970s, but the 2000s changed me to where I know crazy is always possible at 24 Willie Mays Plaza.

Not just the hitting, but they are having fun after seeming to hate to play the game for a while there.
I didn't see them even making the playoffs a few weeks ago. Not because they didn't have the talent. They just weren't showing any signs of being able to make a run. Plus they were falling further back and that requires those teams in front to go into a tailspin. Well the Mets are doing their part.

As one of the people that has been critical of Bailey all year I need t give him credit. He was still batting under .200 in ealy July. Since the All Star break he's managed to raise his avcerage to .220. Not great but at least he isn't an automatic out. Also need to give a shout out to Verlander. Being the pro he is he never let the lack of run support get to him. He's been pitching great recently.
