I wish Justin was in a contender even though most of his losses are on him

Nice! Yours? I do have that one graded 10. I find them on ebay, fanatics collect (have to get lucky), but mainly mercari. I was using my wife's acct but she made me get my own. People post them there for way less than the other two sites. Yes mecari. lol

Another night, another 1 run, another loss.

Yeah, I had to grab something of his before prices got too crazy. Not an auto, but a /25 orange will
appreciate nicely if his hype keeps building.
Speaking of Eldridge...

The power is there but he's still striking out at a really high rate. 36% for the year and 39% for the month of August. If he's striking out that much in AAA you can expect it to be worse in the majors. We've seen what happens to other players like McCray, Matos and Luciano that were hitting well in AAA and struggle when they're brought up. Tall players like him have a larger strike zone and MLB pitchers will find the holes quickly.

Still probably more exciting than watching the current players strike out or pop up.

Prospects who struggle initially in the big leagues turn out fine if they are good. I refuse to believe that early struggles "ruin" a player. Matt Williams struggled early, got sent down, came back up and he became a star. Mike Trout started his professional career 8 for 65.

If you are good, you will be good.

Confidence is big though. If a player is called up before they are ready and they have a miserable first stint it can affect whether they believe they can actually perform at that level. Not all situations are equal.
Buster needs to figure out the closer role in the offseason.

And the back end of the rotation beyond Webb, Ray and Roupp, and the hitting catcher to at least supplement Bailey. Somehow the game or the Giants ninth inning with runners in scoring position for the most part ends with Bailey striking out.

The Giants kind of have a logjam at first base right now. Smith is by far the best defensive 1st baseman and he's a good contact hitter. He gets some key hits instead of striking out or popping up. Devers is the best hitter and certainly has more power than Smith but he strikes out a lot and his defense is just okay. Flores has been a clutch hitter and is okay on defense but he's not likely to be with the team next year. Eldridge is the best power hitting prospect but he's still a work in progress on defense and of course it remains to be seen if he'll be able to hit MLB pitching. They also have a pretty good prospect in Eugene that's really taken off ther last half of the season. Charlie Szykowny. They moved him from 3rd to first and he's really been hitting well. 19 HRs and he's not striking out much. Only about 20%. He just turned 25 on June so he's a little older.

Too bad some of these guys aren't better suited for the outfield or 2nd base.

The Giants are going to do that thing again where they win just enough to reach .500 and thus not fix the roster in the offseason.

Lmao I thought the same thing , they gonna do just enough to get to .500 just like these prior years lately to fool everyone to thinking " hey they close " and to save Melvin job lol

Except for that one season when they somehow won 107 games they've been more or less a .500 team for the last 10 seasons. That's become their identity. It's the worst place for a team to be. They aren't bad enough to blow up the team and start over or bad enough to get higher draft picks and they aren't good enough to substantially improve the team with just a couple moves.

I will say that I believe this team is better than a .500 team. They aren't playing like one but they have more talent on paper than they've had in recent years. I'm hoping a new hitting coach and maybe a new manager can get the team back on track. If Eldridge can break through and provide another big bat the could be in the hunt in a couple years.

And my argument is that if a player is going to lose confidence in himself after a bad first stint, and questions whether or not he can perform on this level, he wasnt going to be good in the first place.

And before you disagree with me, I will say this. I dont mind if you disagree. In this argument, neither your side nor my side is provable.
