Frustrating game all around. Verlander is pitching better and tonight he looked good. This team has to get that win tonight, especially against a bad team like the Pirates. Although they're on a roll against the Giants lately.

Is it unbelievable? We traded away 2 of our better relievers. Is what it is.

One thing for sure I have learned this season is Patrick Bailey is a backup catcher. He's not up to par offensively.

He started off really slow/poorly. He's hit much better lately. Think about this...he hit like .170-.180 all year and then quietly climbed it up to the .210 range. Something to build on. I think I am more concerned that he has like no power and almost all his hitting production comes hitting a fastball. His average drops way down off breaking balls. Off fastballs he hits like .265 or something.

Offense has been much better on this road trip. Some big flies tonight. And Webb getting out of that inning just giving up one run was huge.

A gold glove caliber C is never a backup. Offense is a bonus at C. What Bailey does well is far more important to the team than what he doesn't do well.

I think Buster is happy with the progression.
