Yes, need Ahmed or Schmitt in there for D at the end of games.

For so many years we've become almost spoiled by Crawford's great D and making the routine plays look very routine.

Luciano's bat is definitely looking better...got to figure it out on D.

Well he's also hitting .409 now, hitting the ball hard, goes to right field when down in the count, and also taking walks. He's played SS fine in the earlier innings (with limited range), but the 9th inning seems to be in his head. Two of his 9th inning errors he had his glove turned upside down for example...just over thinking trying to make the routine play. I would love to see him continue to play SS and then subbed for a defensive replacement like Schmitt or Ahmed late in games until he's grown and adjusted more on the field. But he's the best hitting SS we have right now and they need to build on that.

Doval in the 9th must be thinking please don't hit it to his mother f**ker...lol. Or he's saying what I say...please hit that s**t to Chapman. lol

Luciano's errors are mental. Those aren't hard plays. Right now he's having thoughts when balls are hit to him in crucial times. He needs to get over that. The only way he will is to play. That's why he may be sent back down for a stretch to get is head cleared. Taking him out for a defensive replacement won't help his mental state. Let's see if Farhan and Melvin are willing to let him continue at the ML level. At least he's hitting now. If that starts to slow down then maybe he goes back.

His errors could just as well have happened at 3rd base. Those weren't physical errors made trying to get to a ball. They were hit right at him. Sometimes players get a bug in their head that causes them to make mistakes on easy plays. There have been a couple infielders that went through periods where they couldn't make a routine throw to first. It happens. Marco can cheat toward 2nd base a little with the way Chapman has been playing. He just needs to calm down.

Marco has been making contact and at times hitting the ball hard. I'm puzzled about his lack of HRs this year. Only one HR in 95 ABs including AAA. He's always shown good HR power averaging about one HR every 20 ABs. I wonder if they had him make some adjustments to his swing and flattened it out in order to cut down on SOs.

Today he's out of the lineup and Wisely's starting. I don't think it has anything to do with the errors. They also have Soler out for a rest. Seriously. How tired can he be just hitting. He's been in 41 games and has 32 hits to go along with 17 walks. He's only been back in the lineup for a week. He must be exhausted. If he was playing in the field maybe I could see it but he's sitting on the bench most of the time which is what he'll be doing today.

Making Severino look like Cy Young so far.
