Zaidi on adding a starter: "We have talked all offseason and been very consistent that our plan was to continue to graduate some of our young pitchers we're really high on, particularly in the rotation ... the plan all along has been to give our young pitchers opportunities."

If he's in a staring contest with Snell he's not going to say "We're really trying to sign a pitcher right now."
Just a few days back he said he didn't see any more significant moves in the future, and they just signed Chapman.

Of course I don't expect him to play his hand in public. At the same time, I wouldn't be shocked at all if what he said here is exactly what he means, what happens. And that would be disappointing IMO going into the season with this very uncertain starting rotation, injured starters, etc.

His job is to lie, he's just not very good at it.
there's nobody else to fire, it's his tree and he's sitting in it.

I think you'll see Flores and JD Davis rotate through 1B more. They are playing Davis there today. I also think Flores will DH when Soler gets a day off.
The tough part is if they don't cut Panda and they don't trade JD Davis, you will see a rotation of
Davis, Wade, Flores, Panda at 1B. Panda likely doesn't make the team but still. I have never been a fan of having a rotation of position players. Flores is the only guy I have seen on the team that can succeed without regular ABs. (outside Slater PHing)

LOL. This lineup wont be scoring 10 runs on a regular basis.

Flores needs to be in the lineup 80% of the time. If that means Wade needs to be a full time reserve, so be it. I also think Davis will be traded. There simply isnt room for him on this team since we have a full time DH in Soler and Chapman at 3rd....which is a bummer because for 3 months he was the best hitter on our team last year.

Of course they won't. Not even close. That was a sarcastic answer to the patched up pitching, per Zaidi infused by totally unproven youngsters, with a good chance this plan may fail.
