On the player scene it looks like the Giants are really going after the Japanese pitcher Yamamoto. He's considered the best pitcher in Japan and he's still young.

we should have a pipeline to S Korea, Japan, etc. we are closer to home for those guys

Here are some facts: she was hired as intern into baseball operations for the Gs in 2014, 6 years before getting hired to Kapler's staff. So, before Farhan and Kap, before the Larry Baer incident, she was already in the organization. During that time, she also got her graduate degree is sports management. Only then did she get hired on to Kapler's staff for which she now has 4 years old MLB experience, which to me, is much more valuable than indy league or minor league experience.

So again, your bias against women/women in sports is influencing your opinion and it's a lazy and bad take. I think it's quite obvious, this is not a PR/optics facade. However, it does seem abundantly clear the Giants actually like Nakken, a woman, (OMG! How could they!?!?!?! She hasnt even managed the Charleston Dirty Birds for 10 years!!!) and see potential in her and are investing in her, which is what good organizations do. Invest in good people. lol so being an intern for 6 years made her qualified to be hired on to the ML coaching staff? How many people go straight from intern to a big league coaching job? Being here already has no bearing on why it couldn't have been a PR move. A sports management degree and 4 years hitting grounders doesn't qualify you to manage a Major League team. Managing an actual pro baseball team does. Or being a hitting coach. Or pitching coach. Or bench coach. Or a role where you actually have to manage something. Crazy concept, I know.

The lazy, bad take here is calling me a misogynist over and over just because I don't think someone who isn't qualified should be getting interviewed for a job they aren't qualified for. Remove gender from the equation. Nakken doesn't have the experience to be considered for the job. Thats a fact.

You can disagree that the Giants only promoted Nakken for PR reasons in 2020, thats fine. But calling me a misogynist just because I don't think her experience level qualifies her for an interview for manager is BS. You literally can't even tell me what she does for the team, yet you're arguing that she deserves consideration for the job.

The Mariners, Dodgers, Padres and Angels are all close as well. Those teams have owners that love to spend. Seattle and LA both have large Asian populations like SF so the Gints have no real advantage.

Because he has won in the past with average rosters. My guess is that he will be in the Giants manager unless they fall in love with Jason Varitek.
