The Giants should sign Trevor Bauer. Immediately. But they probably will not.

Funny how Travis Ishikawa is referenced like a deity in Giants history, but Belt is constantly disrespected, despite contributing far more to our championship runs.

What I posted has nothing to do with Travis Ishikawa or disrespecting Belt.

lol what was the point of randomly taking a shot at Belt over a 2 game sample size then?

In what universe is that accurate? Yeah he missed almost 60 games. He still had 14 more homeruns and 2 more WAR than any Giant position player.

At Yankee Stadium. And the 2023 Giants sucked, so thats not a major accomplishment.

Judge's contract is going to be one of the worst in baseball within the next 2-3 years. Could we have overpaid enough to make him bail on the Yankees? Maybe. But how much would that have taken? Probably a crap ton more. He wanted to be in NY. He wanted the Yankee legacy. The offer would've had to have blown him away.

Imagine if we had paid him 50 mil per year and he ended up missing 60+ games every year while essentially being a power only guy who strikes out a ton? There are better ways to use 50 mil each season. Even at the time I knew he wasn't going to age well, but we needed something to generate a reason to watch.

"At Yankee Stadium": Judge hit 20 homeruns on the road this year. 32 last year.

"power only guy": He has a lifetime .282 batting average.

Next?

How many HR do you think Judge hits as a Giant every year? And do you think he finishes his career as a .282 hitter, because he hit .267 this season. I think you're going to see his numbers trend downward into his 30's. Considering we would've likely had to pay him far more than NY did, id say that would've been a huge mistake in hindsight. We will see.

it's the playoffs man, no games matter more.
I waited for years for Belt to become the player we needed but he never did. He was a good defensive player but he only had one season where he hit 20 HRs. Never had more than 70 RBI.

My problem with him was his batting eye was so good that he wouldn't swing at pitches outside the zone. It may have been that he could only hit pitches in a small target area but he took way too many walks with runners in scoring position. He was suppose to be the RBI guy. It gave him a great OPS but it wasn't driving in runs. His other issue was injuries but that's not his doing. Some guys just can't stay healthy.

I think Judge hits 40+ homeruns as a Giant every year. Yes, he hit .267 this year. Be hit .311 last season and hit .287 the year before. Its not like he has been trending down or anything. He had a injury plagued season, so its not unheard of that his average would dip a bit. And besides that, he had the second highest ops+ and wRC+ of his career. And its not like he is 37 or something.

If we landed Judge I would have attended as many games as conceivably possible rocking the 99 then you gotta stand up as he's walking to the box, All Rise
buy the bleacher seats so you can box ppl out to catch a Judge homer
we need a real star player ppl, it's been too long
Ohtani may be our guy, just keep him away from the medical staff

Its a classic case of a player having a career year right before free agency, and then getting paid based on where they peaked, only to never be that good again.

Im not saying Judge wouldn't have helped us, but his numbers at Yankee Stadium aren't going to translate to Oracle, and typically hitters of that height/size aren't going to hold up well into their 30's. The dollar amount it would've taken to actually make him abandon NY would've been totally unworthy of the numbers he would put up.
Who is on your guys' list of managerial candidates? I like the idea of Wotus. Another poster showed his records from the minors that impressed me. I did t know that. I think he has 3 things 1-credibility 2-experience 3-the blended strategies of Bochy's manage from the gut vs Kapler's data sets.

Wotus would be cool for sure, but I think that only realistically happens if ownership forces FZ's hand. I think he might go with someone internal or someone he interviewed last time. Almost every single one of the folks FZ interviewed back in 2020 now have been promoted to manager. See KC/CHW for example. The only 2 that haven't yet is Venable and Espada from Houston. Joe Espada I could easily see since we have the Pete connection. But if it's up to me Donnie Ekker.

I would like Vogt...when he was with the Giants, I always thought he'd be the perfect manager.
October Clayton Kershaw strikes again!
