I don't know where you are getting this you're on uefa's side. I aren't the champions league reformat needs stopping. I'm on the side of giving other clubs a chance it's nothing to do with uefa. Other than the current way still gives teams a chance with leicester and West Ham this season. The super league stops that.
Regarding big clubs this is an example. I can only use Leeds as they are the club I'm familiar with. last season only received 2.5 million in tv money for playing in the championship even with this Leeds' commercial income was in the 8th highest in the country so bigger than 12 premier league teams. Now with increased sponsorship and with impressing a global audience this year will have made more fans ie increasing merchandising sales etc. Now add that to the £100 million at least in TV money the club is getting back to where it was 20 years ago in the top 20 rich clubs. A few more years and that will keep on increasing. Hopefully if things stay as they are we may qualify for the champions league bringing in even more sponsorship tv money exposure etc then Leeds will be back level with spurs income. Which is why the 49ers have bought into us the see the potential.
As for being regional again I can't speak for other clubs, but in Ireland there are 4 main teams that are supported these are Celtic, Man united, Liverpool and Leeds. Not spurs not arsenal not Chelsea.
we are massive in Australia, 2 of the best Australian players ever in Harry Kewell and mark viduka in the 90's early 00's.
We're big in South Africa one of their national heroes played for us & was close with Mandela
we are big in Scandinavian countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Norway and planes are full of supporters flying over to the games.
the markets we haven't cracked are the us and Asian as we dropped out of the league when America started taking an interest. That's where spurs have dropped on.
The reason those teams want the super league is because they know it's getting much harder to stay on top.
I hope this tweet embeds into this post as it shows after just 1 year in the premier league we're back in the financial elite & without covid would be just behind inter and athletico Madrid
As a result, #LUFC revenue this season could increase from £54m to around £160m. Would have been even higher without COVID, which Radrizzani estimates has cost £30-40m with no fans at games and loss of corporate/commercial business. This would place Leeds among the revenue elite. pic.twitter.com/hXHes1CNbu
