NBA PLAYOFFS 2017-2018 Thread

That depends on the person and how they feel about the team. We are talking about feelings.
Do you feel the same way when you hear a fan say "We" when talking about the 49ers or an ASU sporting team?
Sports teams bring out a communal feeling for fans and I think that is where the pride and pronouns come into play.

Yes I think using "we" is a silly fantasy. I don't wear jerseys either. Although I don't have a problem with people escaping into the fantasy, as long as they know it's a fantasy.

I think the community angle is speculative. I think a college team, primarily made up of local players that grew up in the community, has a better claim to that. Or even high school sports.

If it was about community, I'd expect people making it out to local highschool sport games to essentially support their neighbours

I am proud of what they have accomplished. Notice I never said that I contributed anything to their success but in my opinion I dont need to have been a contributor to be happy and proud of what my favorite team has done. I believe most people are in agreement with this. I am also proud to have been a Warriors fan through ALL the years when they sucked and that I never jumped to root for another team just because they were winning.

I'm sure the masses of sports fans these days do believe they are closely associated with a team. People devote their lives and emotional well being to teams. People frame their identity around their fandom, know more about their team than their own government.

That doesn't change the fact people are escaping into a false reality

You know who definitely doesn't give a f**k if fans use 'we' when describing their team? The players. We make them feel good, we support them when they are down, boo them when they suck, watch them 3 times a week dribble a ball, talk s**t on their rivals on pointless online forums for a different sport. We fkn matter, and I bet you players love the fans that use 'we', cuz we usually care the most. Ask the lifers - Dirk, Tim, Kobe - what they think of fans in LA, SA, Dallas. They will tell you the fans matter just as much as they do. Sure they don't mind it. And if players don't mind it, why do you care?

Now we need to sign a max fkn player or my head is gonna pop off - signed, your resident Lake show fan.

Tristan Thompson

Why did they do em with the clown music like that? Lmao

That's the Benny Hill theme. It makes everything funnier.

because their defense was a joke lol

I blame the Cav coaching staff for this. They may not have the horses to win it regardless, but you at least have to point your horses in the right direction.
Here's the deal...if Lebron James can somehow raise his game to even higher levels and will his team to 4 straight victories against the Warriors and the 2017-2018 NBA Title I will personally crown him as the greatest pro athlete in the history of all sports let alone the title of NBA GOAT.

Dirk had a nice little squad though to be fair

Yup, even though it was no where near as good or young as the Heats

Bay Area Legend Brian Cardinal aka The Janitor got a ring before Lebron

Really think so? Who did the Heat have outside their big three? Maybe that's why JJ Barrea and Jason Terry were able to do what they did against the Heat? Maybe that's why Lebron was stifled defensively quite a bit especially in game 6? Speaking of the game 6 stats, Terry led the Mavs with 27 points and Jason Kidd led them with 8 assists.

Please stop. The Heat were heavy favorites against the Mavericks. But LeBron was outplayed by role players and then his fans went on to spit out this crazy narrative that the teams were close to even. They werent.

Stop what? I'm not arguing for or against just contributing to the discussion that bay initiated. Btw, Dallas swept the regular season series against the Heat.

LOLLLLL WOW. NBA Regular season means absolutely nothing in the playoffs...Celtics won the series 3-1 vs Miami that year, Bulls swept Miami, ask both those teams how their season ended. Or how about when the expansion Raptors blewout the 96 Bulls??! Point is Miami had no buisness losing to Dallas, they only did because LeBron got shutdown by JJ Barrera. LeBron fans need to stop making excuses and start holding their man accountable for his failures

he had a couple stops on him through the 6 games, props for that, but lmao at thinking that JJ was the reason Mavs won.

That's...not what I said.......Mavs won because LeBron was scared and passive, even when he was guarded by midget Barrera

Except....that's....exactly....what you said....

Point is Miami had no buisness losing to Dallas, they only did because LeBron got shutdown by JJ Barrera.

Refs doing their best to prevent the sweep
Kevin Love getting rocked down low. Good job by Jordan Bell.

Waiting for them to toss Draymond for the most trivial thing.

Bell was quite a pickup.
Dubs should sign Rod Hood. I doubt it's feasible.
