I think he is extremely upset with the front office for something (maybe trying to rush him back) and may sit out a season. Next year is his contract year and he'll push hard for a trade.
SA has never had this kind of adversity. They'll go back to foreign only

If Kawhi demands a trade the Spurs have a very good case for breach of contract for this season. There could be an argument to not count this season since he refused to play.
Not sure what the CBA says but seems logical. If a guy takes a year off and them comes back his contract picks up where it left off so why not try to argue Kawhi took the year off and them demanded a trade.
