It reaffirmed why people don't watch.

in my opinion it affirmed the opposite

Mayweather is as fundamentally sound as any boxer ive ever seen. This dudes going to come out of boxing undefeated and with close to no brain damage and freaking loaded with cash

Theres no reason for mayweather to stand toe to toe with someone when he knows nobody can hit him. Hes been fighting this way his entire career. The whole point of boxing is to not get punched. He's an expert at that

Watched this last night too, definitely makes me understand why I don't watch boxing anymore. If this is what the fight of the century looks like then that may be the last boxing match I will pay to watch.
what I enjoyed watching was everyone knows he's going to slide to the left but for some reason you can't stop it

Maidana had the right idea but he didn't have the tools to complete the job

the heavyweight division needs to wake up again. watching little guys jab and duck eachother isnt fun. the threat of a KO is the best part about boxing and it doesnt happen enough anymore
one thing that will make boxing more interesting is make it so theres only one belt for each weight class...its so hard to keep track of who has what belt and which belt is the most prestigious right now

Klitz NEEDS to face Stiverne or Wilder next IMO. After his last outing I'd put money on both.
Wtf was Jamie Foxx doing? That guy has vocal talent for days. Something was up cuz he looked like he didn't really want to do it. Smh
Mayweather needs three records, 48-0. 5-0 in fights against the wives but 0-5 in fights against the wives in courts.

Boxing needs its heavyweights to come back to popularity tbph.
I think boxing's corporate world needs to realize that fans like entertainment, and in this case (like the NFL), violent entertainment. Most of us will agree that we didn't fall in love with the NFL bc we liked to watch players kick balls between 2 goal posts or watch players running around in tights. We fell in love with it bc the intrigue of having a player killed in the process was too enticing to overlook. Boxing works the same way. Sure, to the boxing aficionado Mayweather's win last night might have been a piece of art, but for the casual fan that has been hearing about this "matchup" for years on ESPN, etc then seeing a pretty boring match basically kills any momentum that boxing could have gained from the fight itself.

In essence, I will be shying away from the sport until the next Tyson comes along, and I'm sure the majority of casual fans like me that watched that garbage display last night will be doing the same.

Bad for boxing as a sport.
Asstntd that's a very well written post but I don't understand how the non casual fan puts stock into this. This was the single biggest day in boxing in my entire life and yet people still have a reason to hate it. Buffoonery is rampant throughout all sports.

all good ya'll boxing ain't going nowhere not when we got people like ggg, kovalev, crawford, lomachenko, felix verdejo, thurman, andy lee (not that one), canelo, maidana, provodnikov, matthyse, bambam rios, frampton

that's a lot of action packed fighters right there. people think the sport needs ONE polarizing HW ko artist to keep boxing relevant and thats just not true

the average joe needs a polarizing figure who they want to see lose or the hw ko artist. no one's gonna sit around and fork over 50 bucks to see technique in the midst of a 12 pack lol. that's the way the market wants it.
