People don't realize that boxing is a lot more dangerous then MMA. If you get hurt in MMA the fight is pretty much over. You don't take multiple huge shots while hurt, you don't get that huge damage while fatigued.

In boxing, you get hurt multiple times throughout the fight. You fight through it. By the end of the fight you've taken multiple shots to the head. If you get gassed, brain damage is multiplied significantly. The ref gave McGregor almost 3 rounds to recover. His legs where gone. He kept taking multiple shots to the head. That's the time in the fight where guys die in the ring. They can barely stand, use the opponent or ropes to stay up, and just get beat all around the ring. McGregor would of fallen, gotten up and kept getting killed. Even in the 10th round, the ref gave McGregor 3 tries to defend himself, and he didn't

UFC has a lot more options to take out a wounded opponent so it ends up being a bit more safer. People see the blood and think UFC fighters are tougher and fight thru more severe injuries. They don't. Those are bruises and cuts, in boxing the fights are stopped because guys are more at risk for severe injuries like concussions, brain trauma, permanent eye damage.. The head is the primary target so once someone's ability to protect themselves is compromised the fight is stopped. You can be concussed or killed in either but in boxing that's how a KO is secured. They have to be more vigilant in stopping the fight because people can stay up long enough to be killed.
imagine IF Connore would have won
This thread would've been 300 pages full of memes.

Never thought once he was gonna win, it was just as I expected. Just didn't think Mayweather was gonna box like a girl for the first 6 round and keep turning his back on McGregor. This boxing match certainly wasn't worth the hype or the money both were overpaid.

It was $100 out of people's pockets. They more than likely would have blown that on something stupid anyways. No different than people paying $60 for WrestleMania or something The two biggest names in combat sports got in the ring and the results were as expected for the most part. Conor had a phenomenal pre-fight hype job going that really instilled confidence in his fanbase, Floyd haters (although they don't need much of that as it doesn't matter who the opponent is, they will pay for the fight and hope for the best) and his country (although they are a proud bunch regardless). He gave it his best shot and had a couple of moments but it was only a matter of time until Floyd took over.

What's insane, and is a credit to the PR job, was the general public perception of mcgregor's chances. Majority still thought Floyd would win, but doubt crept into lots of peoples' minds. Just look at the huge shift in cash on the Vegas books. Dana white on the radio saying Floyd has been in the strip clubs til 4am. The change to a smaller glove. All carefully crafted by al haymon who is a genius at fight marketing. They did a lot of s**t to make it seem like mcgregor had a chance. And it did work.

Real life version of "The Great White Hype"

It also shows that people dont really know what they are talking about when it comes to analyzing fights. Floyd wasnt turning his back to him.

Yes he was. Was part of his game plan. He was trying to get Conor to throw an illegal punch.

Lol, even the announcers were calling him out for it and ref kept warning him also. Annoying but a smart tactic.

Where you box toe to toe , not running ,ducking etc.

What are you talking about?
Mayweather ,Sugar Ray Leonard, always get called out for their point winning tactics. Grabbing holding backpedalling =boring fight.

When Connor said,"I made you fight like a Mexican." Alot of noobs took offense to it as racist.

It's actually a compliment. It means that you came to fight ,balls out , all out , war.
Not winning by a close boring decision.

He was turning to the side, and Conor was stepping around to his backside. Floyd wasnt simply turning around 180 degrees like people are claiming.

This. I saw one occasion where Floyd actually turned while he was going to the ropes in the mid-rounds (and Conor continued to hit him, twice in the back of the head if I'm not mistaken). Every other instance, Conor was stepping around. He's been training one way for close to a decade, 5 months isn't going to break that habit

I meant why are you trying to say GGG coined this or made it popular?

who's saying he was turning 180 degrees? You're already in a sideways stance. All it takes is one step to expose your back. Which is what he was doing. Many people broke down why he was doing it after the fight. If Floyd turned 180 degrees he'd turn in a half circle and end up in a southpaw stance. lol
Damn that chick on the right is hot.

without reading through the last 100 pages, I"m gonna guess it goes something like this.

"so proud of conor, he held his own!"

Floyd could've taken him out whenever he felt like it. Wish the ref hadn't stopped it.
