tavares is a big loss but he was only logging like 4th line minutes. i felt he should have been playing with crosby but he never really did. garth snow the islanders gm is pretty irate.

He has been terrible as a GM, and their team had no shot at playoffs. Tavarres will be back for next year.

I think its funny so many Canadiens don't want NHLers in the Olympics (for example, look at the Toronto Sun Poll on Garth Snow). What gives?

I don't know if I'd watch if it was "amaetuers." I mean who really could even play Olympic hockey thats an amateur? Junior hockey scrubs and college players? Why not just watch the International Junior competitions????

I just don't get it at all. The sport is bigger then the league IMO. I don't understand why Canadiens flip flop it around to thinking that the NHL is bigger than hockey. Just look at the comments about how Canadiens assume winning the Stanley Cup is the greatest trophy, but lots of Europeans believe Gold means more.

If the NHL backs out, I bet the KHL will fill the void and grow into more of a competitor with the NHL (because Europeans will take "KHL tours" when its an Olympic year).
