Kings are a joke in the league. Why would a decent FA want to play in Sac? I wouldn't.

I agree w/ this. Currently, Kings are the biggest joke in major sports. Worse than the Browns. I don't think we can guarantee landing anyone, not even El Dos Ryan Anderson. Why the hell would they come here? Maybe because they are getting overpaid big time. All the agents are advising against it...

Why would Joerger come here? He had other options.

That was awesome. He likes the area and he may have some friendships in the front office. I love the Kings, don't get me wrong. But for now, until we turn things around, we are a joke. Look at the draft workouts. Getting actual sought after FAs will be really tough. Gotta see it to believe it.

We don't need to win 50 games, just be competent for a year or two.

And coaches are way different than players. Most coaches, especially ones that were let go, have limited options. FA players, especially now given mediocre players getting close to max deals, have so many choices.

I listened to Mike and Mike this morning with an NBA analyst rant on Sacramento being the worst sports franchise, not just the worst basketball team. 6 coaches in 6 years. Cousins is a child, a talented child, and is given all the power in the world. Mix in horrible draft decisions, and you have a recipe for disaster.

And because its obvious, when the sports media thinks you are a joke, and all the agents representing players at the draft refuse to give the kings info because of the perception of the team, you are a joke.

1 + 1 = 2.

I have liked the kings forever, but this s**t is a f**king mess.

If Cousins was really given that much power George Karl wouldn't have been hired and he certainly wouldn't have lasted as long as he did. I keep trying to figure out moves the Kings have made that would suggest that Cousins was making the decisions, can you provide some examples? I won't argue that he doesn't have his issues, but they are way overblown because of the mess that ownership and the front office has been and has created. If you look at the coaches that he supposedly got fired none have got another shot at a head-coaching position. The one coach that he got along with was subsequently fired for style reasons and quickly got another head coaching job.

The reputation in Sacramento will only change when they start winning more games. Until then is doesn't how professional the front office appears or how many changes they make. The perception doesn't change without wins.

They were every bit the mess last year and were able to sign some guys. The difficulty this year is that everyone has money so guys can be more picky and with the losing and taxes and questions about the stability of the franchise I can see Sacramento being a hard sell. On the flip side I think there are major minutes available for guys looking to prove themselves.

The whole sports media and NBA analysts believe his beef with coaches led to their dismissal. It was known he wasn't happy with the coach, had open airing of these problems...how can you not believe it? Lol

I believe he had an influence on it but he was far from the only reason and he didn't make the decision. Except for Malone (who Cousins liked and did not want fired) the Kings haven't had a quality coach since Cousins has been here.
Even if Cousins wasn't on the team, any good front office would have fired (or not hired in the first place) the coaches between Malone and Joerger.

Cousins is the star player so he does have a little bit of influence but I don't think it is anywhere near the amount that people think. If cousins was calling the shots like people say Malone would never have been fired, especially at the beginning of the season when they where doing well until DMC got hurt. That move was all Vivek/PDA.
Kevin Durant to the Kings for the $5 bucks

Malone is just the outlier. The kings run a horrible franchise and that move was them thinking they are smart. It backfired, Cousins was pissed, and they have tried to appease him since. Problem is it's bigger than the coach. Cousins knows he's good and the roster and front office is s**t. And this draft was another demonstration that it won't get better. Cousins needs a veteran respected player to show him how to be a pro, but that guy isn't signing here.

If they landed a solid guard like Conley it might get better. I just don't see it.
Interested in Dion Waiters. That would be a good signing.

What do you mean outlier? Malone was the only coach they fired. After Karl was hired the whole front office changed. It's a whole new front office since then. No reason to judge them on decisions made before they got here. The draft was a crapshoot after 3. It's going to be a couple of years before we can really know anything about these rookies.

I'm not going to say the draft was terrible either. They all have good potential.
