That was a great era. '01-'02 still stings but so does '02-'03 when C Webb went down with the knee injury. That was a wrap for that era.

NBA fans quickly forgot because we are 'The Kangz', but we did have two legit shots as a contending team.

Worst team in the NBA.

If there is a legit superstar in this draft the Kings need that top pick and the wisdom to take the guy.

Sacramento deserves to have one of those guys, we'll see if the lottery falls the way the team needs it to.

This organization and city are in dire need of a superstar, or two, and impact players outside of that.

Best I can offer is a promising star for 2 years but we trade him for a veteran that doesn't help us

If this holds true I think that is fair, Doug may not be the guy, but he has been dealt a s**tty hand.

Hope the Kings win the draft lottery this season or at least end up in a good position to add star talent (and be smart enough to take them.)

That was a great era. '01-'02 still stings

Technically, Horry did not hit that 3 pointer. Well, he did. But after the shot clock had expired. As for 01-02, the fix was in. The league wasn't going to allow Sacramento to win and did not. My days as an NBA fan ended during those years. I just didn't know it yet.

Rick was a great coach. He made two NBA Finals with the Portland Trailblazers but ran into buzzsaws in the Pistons and the Bulls.

For whatever reason a lot of magic happened for the Kings in the lockout shortened1998-99 season or the shortened off-season leading up to it.

The hiring of Rick Adelman as head coach, along with a roster revamp via trade and free agency, turned the Kings into a good team.

Having watched those years I can say that the Kings were robbed of a chance for a title twice, first by crooked Refs, second by devastating injury.

Rick got a talented roster to buy into his system and was the perfect coach (+ his assistants) for the Kings in a magical era for the franchise.

Best coach in the Sacramento era. ... Sucks to see so many prominent figures pass. RIP Rick Adelman

I was amazing how it all fell into place. Petrie got hired by Thomas in 96 and immediately turns a s**t franchise into a respectable one. 98 rolls around a maloofs come in flush with cash and adelman gets canned in GS and Petrie brings in his buddy and former co worker . Dominoes kept falling after that

anyone else find it interesting the finals is Mike Brown > Fox and we have this clown christie who flat sucks can't even tank right, we got pick 7
