Chad Gentry and Josh Lindblom aren't a bag of peanuts. Fact is that Choice wasn't just regarded all that highly by scouts around MLB. I happen to like Choice quite a bit and Choice has higher upside than Gentry but also a lower floor. Plus Gentry is a plus defender in CF which is important with our flyball pitching staff and given Crisp's tendency to get knicked up easily. While Choice can play CF, it's a stretch for him and he'd probably be no better than slightly below average playing there. Kind of like Reddick is when he plays CF.Plus Gentry is an established MLB player while Choice is a rookie subject to a learning curve. For a team trying to win now this is an important consideration.

It's pretty clear this team has a 2 year window before we blow this current version up and rebuild again.

Feldman got 3 years 30 mill from the Astros, Nolasco got 4 years 50 mill

Beane was explaining on 95.7 how Kazmir's velocity is as high as it was in 2010, it dropped since then but came back last year. He was saying how he thinks he'll be even better this year than last year, and he wasn't awful last year. He had 9 Ks per 9 innings which is pretty good for someone that was out of the league the year before. And he's still 29, which is the prime age for SPs.

Maybe I'm just being too optimistic, but I have faith in Beane and wouldn't be surprised if Kazmir does really well for us.

Now hopefully we trade for a middle of the line up bat, and a good 2B/SS

This, Kazmir was actually on the upswing last season, hopefully it continues into this one. Decent addition overall.

Wolff should just locate his inner Al Davis or Robert Irsay, pack up everything and start moving to San Jose, f**k MLB. Everytime a team has just up and moved, courts have inevitably ended up finding in favor of the franchise and not the sports league.

but when was the last time a baseball team has done that? The A's would need a place to play and there's no stadium that they could use in the south bay....

Anderson traded to Rockies for two pitchers, LHP Drew Pomeranz and Class A RHP Chris Jensen. Not at all what I was hoping for.

I thought the A's would get a bit more but Pomeranz could be good for the A's.. Good young lefty.
